So I bought like four packs of turkey all a bit over 1 lb. I have fed all but 3 and have no other ground left to feed but the 4th pack of turkey. They ate their over 3 lbs of beef already. Today when I was putting the turkey in a container to be thawed in cold water in the sink I noticed it has 75 mg sodium. There is no ingredient list that says ground turkey and salt but it does say with natural flavor. I'm guessing the salt is the natural flavoring. Unless (I don't want to sound dumb) but turkey has natural sodium content?? If it is added salt I am worried for my babies health because I know too much sodium isn't too good. I have to know by 7 PM if it is OK to feed because that is their next meal time.
Thankfully my mom bought too many chicken tenders when we had chicken Parmesan the other night so I can feed those if I need to. I think I have enough chicken to last them until the first.
I wish I would have noticed that sodium earlier!!!

I've found what I usually have to keep an eye out for is the label "enhanced". That's when they add the extra like society doesn't eat enough salty foods as it is

I was very disappointed when I started inquiring that flavour enhanced, means sodium added Salt is a natural flavouring Why we need more sodium added to our diet in ground turkey I have no idea but there you have it. I don't feed my guys ground turkey unless, I grind it myself or it's been ground by a pet food supplier (it's really sad when the pet food is of a more superior quality than our own :o_) ciao

75mg really isn't that much sodium. I'd say it should be fine to feed. Turkey does have naturally occuring sodium but I am positive some of that 75mg is added. Just rinse the meat thoroughly and they should be fine.
Do your guys like turkey? Mine HATE it (even my dog and cat).

My kids are pretty good at finishing off what ever I happen to put in their box. Its quite wonderful. Except their organs... they hate organs.
I wouldnt be terribky worried about eh sodium. Just watch out for it next time. A few extra salt meats will be fine. The meats that come in the hard plastic containers with the bubbled tops because of the air pressure in them (versus the styrofoam containers with PVC plastic wrap tend to have the "flavor enhancers".
