Well, I went to pet store today to look at babies. I saw the most beautiful little cinnimon girl. When I reached in to her she jump up into my hand and wrapped her arms around my arm....awwww. I played with her for along time. Then I went outside and had a good cry. I think i'll go back and get her. ... too soon?....hmmmmm

I dont think its too soon, Trina. Every person is different. Some people might need weeks, months, a year before they are ready for a new pet, and others need/want a new baby right away so that they dont grieve alone. I took about 6 months after I had to rehome my original business before I got Fugue, but I needed time to heal AND time to get to a place where I could care for ferrets again (finacially, spacially, etc).
If you made a connection with this little girl, I would get her! She can help you grieve over Chaos, but atleast you wont be alone as you grieve! Before chaos passed I remember you said hubby was going to let you get a second ferrets. If you get this little girl will you be bringing home a friend of hers as well?

Quill I say go for it. She felt your love and wanted to be with you! She won't ever take chaos's spot in your heart, she's simply going to make a new one for her

Yes, there was another that was playing with us too. Wow! that would great...two little fuzzbutts. Chaos may not be here with them but he'll be waiting at the bridge. As you know, no other ferret could take Chaos' place but I really think it will help my family heal.
Just need to find a ferret vet. Anyone know any vets within 50 miles or so of Charleston, West Virginia?

I can't say that I do, but perhaps a search on google might help?
Sometimes if you dont have a great ferret vet in the area, you need to find a vet that is a bit farther away for BIG things (like surgeries) and then for little things (like check ups and what not) you might be able to find a local dog/cat vet that is willing to learn. I have helped to "teach" vets before about ferrets. I bought my old vet a copy of "Biology and Diseases of the Ferret" and I printed off a packet of info on ferret basics. You will really have to "take charge" of your ferret knowledge, so that you can educate your vet (if you are unable to find a good ferret vet) but I have found that doing this makes me a more empowered ferret owner. We are here to help you learn the basics about fuzzy disease/treatment!
I would also post an add on craigslist and see if any local ferret owners know of a good vet. Ask the people at the petstore where they take their ferrets if they get sick.

I would say go get her too, thats how we ended up with Crash, we were at the petstore getting some stuff and he looked at me and i looked at him and the world started going by us in slow motion with some sappy song playing in the back ground , no one here can tell you when its to soon to get another little one, you just have to trust your heart

Go for it! I thought about you all day today, and just wished for you to have another one. Everyone's healing is different. When my cat of 18 years died I was devistated. But, I knew there was another out there that needed my home and love, and I had a hole in my heart that needed filling. A week later I came home with Noah. I think this little ferret was calling out to you, and I think Chaos would have wanted you to be happy. Heck, I'll just throw this idea out to you...adopt two! You know you will go back for another anyway. This a way, you at least save on gas!
Your heart will lead you in the right direction. Go with it, and don't worry about what others may or may not think!

We have decided to get the babies if they are still there but we can't go until Friday. Did you notice I said babies and they! Keep your fingers crossed that the little cuties are still there. If not, we are still going to look for two. Chaos' cage is just too empty.

i hope you get your little ones. Even if they arent there it will work out! When I went to the petstore I saw this ADORABLE champange male I wanted him SO bad. I also saw this wild, crazy, cracked out little black nosed, white pawed kit. (Fugue ) He was cute, but I remember saying "You are so cute, but you would be WAY to much of a handful for me!" Lo and behold when I went back a month later the champanege was gone. But Fugue was still there, just as cracked out and hyper as ever . I asked the store person about him and she said Fugue was "donated" by a family that 'couldnt handle something that wild.". I KNEW I had to have him. I KNEW a natural diet and lifestyle would calm him down so much. I brought him home. He was a terror at first, but you know what? Constant time out-of-cage and a natural diet have turned the little "monster ferret" into an angel! I love him so much! Even if your babies arent there, dont go home empty handed! Even the least likely kit can turn out to be the "right fit" if given the chance (granted this could backfire, but I still think its worth a shot if the babies you previously wanted are gone.) Congrats! and Good luck!
