I am a pre-vet student (undergraduate). I had completed my freshman year of college at NAU (Northern Arizona University- Flagstaff, AZ) but after my first year at school, I moved back home to MO in May 2007. I was with my ex-bf at the time and we just couldnt afford to live out in Flag (cost of living was SO high, and our incomes did not fit with that cost of living).
I broke up with my ex shortly after moving back to MO (may 07). We had been together for 3 years, but I just couldnt take it anymore lol (we did NOT have a good relationship). I started dating Tim, shortly after my ex and I broke up (wasnt planning on getting into a new relationship so soon, but this great guy just fell out of the skies and landed at my feet, and who am I to pass something that awesome up! ), and I resumed classes that fall (07) at a university in my home town (St. Louis, MO) . I just was NOT in a good place to be in school though. I couldnt focus. I needed time to "find myself" after getting out of that aweful 3 year relationship. I had to rehome 4 of the 6 ferrets in my original business around the same time I went back to school, and I just could NOT keep my head straight. I decided to withdraw from school and take a year off.
In that year off I have done SO much (so I am thrilled that I took time off)
1. I got my life back together after losing my original business
2. I had time to figure out where I stood in life after being in a god-aweful relationship for 3 years.
3. I had time to bond with my new b/f
4. I had time to research ferrets and natural diets and create the HF website! (my proudest acheivement).
5. Working and not going to school really made me realize "holy crap! I dont want to work at Target the rest of my life, I need to work with animals. I WANT to be back in school"
So I meet with my advisor on Thursday to register for classes for the fall semester at my local community college. I am both excited and nervous to be back in school.
I will be spending the next year at my local community college, and then I will be moving to Boulder, CO to attend The University of Colorado. I have learned (from failure) what you need to plan for when you move to another state. I really think that this time when I move I will be successful. I am SO excited to get through this year at my community college and then get back to a university. I LOVED it out west, and thats where my heart truely lies (and where my #1 choice for vet school is as well! Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO)
School here I come! Ahhh!!!!
