Just noticed this part of the forum, and noticed no one has been active since 2008. So here I suppose the first book topic of 2009. A Child Called it, and Extremely Emotional and touching story about a small boy and his life of abuse and how he managed to beat the odds. There is 3 in the Series, A Child Called It, Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave. It is a true story and it follows his life. I Cried the entire first book and most of the second and third. It is Extremely Graphic in parts, describing the things he went through and some of his thoughts through out, I wouldn't recommend it for younger people. But it opened my eyes to alot of things and I think it was one of the best books I have read in a long time.
After the last book came out his Younger brother wrote his own story about what his life was like after David escaped(was taken by child services) and how he took over that "It" roll in the house.
And one thing that really does bother me, and I know this was a long time ago and things are different now, but how could Child Services take one child away for abuse and leave the rest of them there, even if there was no outward signs of it, it would stand to reason...
Anyways, if anyone else has read this book, I would love to hear your opinions on it. And if this isn't an appropriate book for the section...well it was a very Profound experience reading it for me. and as I did mention the book is detailed and graphic and it is Heart Breaking as well.

Sounds interesting! One of the things in this world that tick me off and break my heart is child abuse. I'll try to see if I can find it! Thanks for the suggestion!

I have read all three and thought they were good. There is a 4th book by Dave Pelzer called The Privilege of Youth that I started to read before my other half accidentally returned it to the library (it belonged to my best friend) and I never saw it again.
Have not heard of the one by the younger brother but I will have to look around for it.

The brother's book is called A Brother's Journey - Surviving a Childhood of Abuse. The author is Richard Pelzer.
