I had to put Willy to sleep today. I want to thank everyone who tried to help me figure out ways to help his IBD, in the end that's not even what did him in. I took him to the vet on Wednesday for a checkup and to discuss adding a new medication to his schedule, and I thought he was doing well. The vet thought he might have fluid in his abdomen and she was also hearing his heart on the other side of his body so she did an xray. Basically his cancer had spread to every organ. His heart was enlarged and it caused a collapsed lung, along with fluid accumulating in there so he had a hard time breathing. When he had surgery for his adrenal gland a year ago, we found out it was malignant. The vet said the surrounding organs looked healthy so we hoped that it hadn't spread. Obviously we were wrong though. We spent so much time worrying about his IBD we didn't even suspect the cancer had come back, especially not as aggressive as it had. So in the end cancer is what would've taken him. The vet said I should bring him in in the next week because after that, he was going to start going downhill and suffer. So a friend took me and we did it today. I know it was time. Thankfully they were able to use a vein and he didn't fight it or feel pain. He went peacefully. So thank you everyone for trying to help, in the end there wasn't anything I could do and the vet and I did everything we possibly could. I have 3 other ferrets to keep me busy. Rest in peace my little Willy bear.

I so sorry for the loss of your little Willy Bear. Our little ones share our path for so short a time. I will light a candle to guide his paws on to his next great adventure. I'm sure he will greet it with the same determination that he greeted his previous adventures. He now runs and plays with boundless energy and free from pain. He shares warm snuggles and endless romps with many who have walked this path before. Here, he will enjoy endless days of sunshine and warm moonlit nights, until once again he will be in the arms that have held him, loved him and protected him. Goodbye little Willy Bear, you are truly missed, goodbye ciao

I am so sorry. Every time I hear about the loss of another of these little angels, I read it with tears in my eyes. Please do understand you did the best, kindest thing you could have for him, and he's now waiting for you at the bridge.
