This is a common ingredient in Soupy and since I would like to start making this more often for my kids, I'm trying to figure out how to best powder egg shell and how best to store it for future use. We go through a lot of eggs in our house. If we are not really thinking about it we can easily put away 12-18 eggs week and that is when I'm not baking. So that is a lot of egg shell to grind into a powder.
How would you store it so it will not go bad?

If you wash and let the shells completely dry, they don't really 'go bad.' After drying, I crush my eggshells up coarsely and then use a mortar and pestle to grind into a powder. Then I store in just an old tupperware in the cupboard Many people use coffee grinders to powderize them, too.

I love the coffee grinder method. I simply don't have the patience to do the mortar and pestle. A few quick shots in the grinder, and voila!- powdered eggshell

The recipe i use calls for hardboiled eggs so I just throw in an entire egg with shell into the blender!

I was just informed NOT to use the eggshell from hardboiled eggs I hate peeling them and I figured since the recipe called for eggshell I could just throw in the whole egg.

shells from hardboiled eggs are incredibly brittle and can cut a fert's mouth.
