My original four ferret, Boris, Vincent, Sinnead, and Lucrezia, adore their whole prey. For the first time today, I gave NB rabbit. THEY DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE!!! I actually had to go to the extent of cutting them open, and squirting in oil before they even knew what to do with them Once they got a taste, they dug in, but still.....

You have to remember we're talking about a little creature that can be so fixated on a type of food that it would sooner starve to death than try something new Perhaps, it's a left over survival technique....eating something that's out of place could cost an animal it's life. Maybe that's why wild ferrets really don't exist anymore. Look at the black footed ferret, because of it's fixation on prairie dogs, it eats nothing else and has become next to extinct That being said, congratulations on finding another protein source that your furbabies will actually eat with gusto...even with a little encouragement or at least some dressing up ciao

The silly thing is that they love rabbit meat

Yes, but like children, texture, taste and visual all play a part as to what they know. Create a cookie that looks like a brussel sprout and I bet a lot of kids wouldn't give it the time of day. ciao
