Athena is my dominate ferret ( female and over all top dog). I love her to death, but she does not seem to tolerate newbies on her home ground. I am getting a new foster this Friday and I was wondering if there is any product out there that can zen her a bit so she is not so dominate when I bring the new girl home to me. Fortunately Diamond comes with a cage, but I a worried about introductions. As it stands I do not keep Athena and Princess in the same cage, but they get along decently out of the cage. At the ferret party I hosted this weekend Athena went after 2 other ferrets and she was in it for blood. Thank goodness they didn't get hurt, but the one little ferret was very shaken up.
Saphire- I do not remember, where they both female? Athena seems fine with the males. Any help will be great!

You could try some rescue remedy but you know as far as integrating dominant females in an existing business.....I've not had much luck This is one time when you will have to pay close attention to the poop blood rule, screaming doesn't count. I presently run 2 play times with one batch being in the ferret room while the other batch free roams the house and switching them up half way through the day. I've got two lady ferts that will never in a million years let any other female in the house except for the ones that are existing in their present businesses. Lady"B" is the only female in the "A" team. She rules her boys with an iron paw and will kill any other female ferret (I honestly think she would, she's 3 lbs of the most aggressive piece of work I've ever encountered) With the brat pack I just introduced this nasty little piece who her owners said was afraid of everything including her own cage friend (shows what they knew ). She's a little whisp of a thing (don't let her peaceful angelic photo fool you), which just goes to show that size doesn't mean anything Like Lady "B", she's deaf, screams at the top of her little lungs, believes that all furries should bow before her and hates all the girls in the brat pack. She lives with all of them, it's just that when she's out and about she believes that they should run from her shadow (for the most part they do). How I could get another little girl who not only behaves like Lady "B" but actually looks quite a lot like her too, I have no idea. By the way, she too has a gray tail. I will wish you luck, and keep my fingers crossed for you, but don't be surprised if your little Athena doesn't allow another female to live peacefully in your home. ciao

I was afraid to hear that...... Athena is not a little girl, like some of the females can be either, so she has the body to really be mean. Ferrets for Dummies suggest a introductions of starting with the submissive ferrets first and working your way up. If Athena can not be nice, then I may end up with 2 play groups as well..... at least until I have a new home for the fosters.

Has anyone used these products? www.azmira.com/My holistic pet store I go to has the one called Aggression and I would like to give it a try. Also they have Bach's Rescue Remedy in the spray bottle. What would the correct dosage be for a ferret?

I just glanced through their site. I've been on there before, we found ourselves discussing it on the holistic site that I'm on. Their natural idea of food is kibble, they aren't forthcoming about their product (there isn't any product breakdown), they make some rather ambiguous statements about their products (but that's made by many companies). You can try it and see what you think, Bach isn't the only company out there to handle this type of product, and I'm sure there are others out there that are as good or better. If you have access to some of the products without huge cost or risk, I would be tempted to try them. I would just have to think that if the statement appears to good to be true it probably isn't true Just be very careful. I've never used a spray bottle, I don't know What are the directions on the bottle. I know my rescue remedy states to use 10 drops in water or 1 drop on an ear but I've never seen it offered in a spray...but why not?? Let me know what you do, I'm always open to trying to get my bratty girls to get along ciao

They were both Males Actually, Butterscotch and Barlee. I think she went after Butter 'cause he is a weaker ferret, but Barlee, I don't know maybe he looked at her funny.

My rescue remedy isn't by Bach...different company, different amounts. It should tell you on the bottle what the concentration is. ciao

Ok. Now I'm concerned. Will the alchohol in the Bach's cause a problem, considering how little they get(a drop rubbed in the ear, twice a day, and four drops in the water?

According to my natural path...no. But if your concerned you can boil some water and hold the spoon over the water, it will cook off in a couple of minutes. I've seen no ill effects caused by the alcohol. Most herbal meds are kept in alcohol. The remedies that I have are kept in distilled water which may stand to reason why, I have to add more than what you do in a proper Bach remedy which is always prepared with alcohol. This stuff also doesn't have the shelf life of the Balch rescue remedy either ciao

Well, I got Diamond last night and so far everyone is getting along!!!!! I let her sleep with my fosters since they are an easy going bunch and she is out running around and playing and Athena is ignoring her! I was going to keep in her in the cage she came in, but is is so small and there was only one makeshift hammock in it. My coworker is on her way over to look at the 3 available ferrets that I am trying to rehome, Noah, Princess and Diamond. I'll let you all know who ends up with a new mommy and daddy and a new sister (Jayla).

Noah and Princess went home with their new mommy and little sister, Jayla! I am going to work with Diamond some more before i rehome her. She is friendly but I want her to be able to burn some of the energy she has built up and make her a little bit more secure around people.
I went and looked at Bach's RR today in the spray. It said 1 squirt in the mouth of a dog. I think I am going to order it off the site and I am going to look at some of the others that they offer too.
