Well, its been a very long year, but we're finally back.
;D Piper
Bear
Bandit
Dillon
A lot has happened in the past year, most of it not so good, of course the wolverines didn't seem to notice much except that we moved and they have their own room now.
A while ago Piper dig through the screen in their new room and fell two stories (I thought I had the window closed). Well, when I got down to her she was limping and whining a little. Once she was better she managed to get a hold of a mouse (computer mouse) and chewed the rubber off it, and naturally some of it got swallowed too (back to the vet). When I went to pick her up they tried to give me the wrong ferret! And then the lady tried to argue with me! But my Piper knows her name and she knows her daddy so when they brought her out I called her name and she bounced to the floor and came right over.
While she was away she was missed by all, and when she came home I had to keep her away from the others for a little while as she healed up fully. Turns out that was a good idea because now they are being a little rough with her. Bear has been trying to scruff her! Well that has turned into a fight several times (though only ever outside the cage). When she can't get him to leave her alone she comes running over to me screaming the way they do. Its only been a couple of days since she was back with them so, I figure things will get better eventually. She's also very skittish, but i guess that's to be expected. If she doesn't see me coming from across the room she runs off when she does notice me. But at the same time she still likes to follow me around the apartment.
The big change with her though is that when I put some meat in front of her she started eating it right up! We had been making some progress but I've never seen her quite that interested in healthy food before. So that means so more bags of junk for my babies!
Their room was a total mess for a while. I couldn't seem to do anything to get it clean until a rearranged things, now instead of spending their time making a mess they are exploring the changes. I think I'll keep changing it, they all seem to like that.
I took Bear for a walk a few months ago... that didn't go very well. We rounded the corner and bumped into a big dog. At first the dog just stared at him, but when Bear tried to run towards it the poor dog almost took its owner's arm off trying to get away. Bear seems to think that dogs are just giant ferrets.
Bandit ruined the carpet in the new apartment in the first week; typical. Keeping it clean is one thing, but I really can't do much when she digs into it at the doorways. I don't worry about it so much anymore though what's done is done.
Dillon has changed a lot. He used to be fat and just sort of drag himself around (he was far too young to be so fat). But he's lost a lot of weight and now he's jumping and bouncing all over the place. He even yelps for me when he sees me coming toward their room in the morning. He still won't kill live mice, but that's ok at least he's active now!
I've been trying some different meats with them lately. I brought home some catfish today and Piper was the first to start eating it; within minutes they were all tearing at it. Chicken of course still doesn't last long in our house, heh. But I want to try getting them on some other meats as well. Bear and Bandit are easy since they'll eat pretty much anything I want them to except red meat. Piper I don't know about anymore, so I'll be experimenting (any suggestions?) Dillon seemed to like the fish so I think I'll be trying some new meats on him as well.
Well, that's all for this update. I expect to post again soon (preferably without Piper trying to help me type).
