So I was trying to make a raw food shopping list for the rest of August into the beginning of September. Since I've decided to add Nature's Variety medallions a few nights per week and I'm using it to introduce ground to three of my girls, I started adding things up to figure out if I needed to buy the 1lb trial sizes or the 3lb bags of the different flavors. But then insomnia kicked in and I was up all night and had nothing to do, so I started figuring out approximately how much they eat of EVERYTHING on their menu... When I totalled it all up, the 5 of them eat almost 30lbs per month right now! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! LOL! I know that they're just starting raw so they'll slow down eventually, and 4 of them are under a year old, but HOLY COW! Sullivan alone eats 4-5 ounces a day, and each of the girls eats about 3-4. Is this normal or are my kids just little piggies? Haha. I just found the whole thing very amusing, although I probably should find something better to do with my time than adding up 30 days of ferret portions...

That actually doesn't sound too much to me. My 8 eat approx 48lbs a month. The original 4 eat around 6-7 ounces per meal(2 females, 2 males), the new 4, 6 ounces per meal. So- 12-13 a day. Times 30 gives roughly 48lbs. Wow! I'd never actually sat and added it up before!

In the beginning they do eat TONS more... their bodies are basically making up for lost time! Once you get them all fully switched and onto a more balanced menu, they'll even out --- I know it seems like a lot of meat at first though hahahaha.

I guess I won't tell you how much 17 fuzzbutts eat in a month Let's just say I ran out last month, and I had purchased 150 lbs and that doesn't include the 50 mice that they can consume in one sitting, or the quail, rabbit or the food they steal from the dog The little bums will be happy though, my rat supplier has rats again so they will be able to supplement their mice with rats now too. Do remember that even though they slow down once they get the hang of eating raw and their bodies don't demand that they get more and more of this awesomely good stuff. Unless, you live in Australia...our little fuzzbutts are just coming into their biggest eating season ciao

My five eat around 30lbs. They go through about 8oz per meal, give or take an ounce, plus they get the odd mouse here and there if a snake doesn't eat.

I was beginning to think I was crazy. Newt, who is about 17 weeks old, eats at least 2 pounds every three days if not more. I am fairly certain Ive got just the right amount down now, he eats everything but isnt rushing his food dish at each meal. He also doesnt take treats during the day most days so he isnt hungry in between.
