I had an idea for an outdoor (or indoor with space) ferret fun item. I got it when I was walking with Kitiara in the woods. We passed a fallen spruce tree that was suspended a good 3 or 4 feet high across the path. I ducked to go under it, but she, who was on my shoulder, climbed up onto the log and ran the lenght of it, dooking and weeving between the branches. I think I'm going to get my dad to cut out a section of the tree, and I'll nail it to two tall stumps and put it in their outdoor pen. Voila, a natural ferret balance beam, just like their polecat ancestors would have used in the wild!

I loved this idea when you posted about it on the ferret.com forum (thanks for coming onto HF and posting it) Great to see you here! Im gunna go see if I can put together a ferret-y balance beam of my own  |

I set up stuff like thisin my ferret rrom - always changing things around. I swear my brats get brattier and smarter with all the enrichment. Just like in the wild is right...here is a great polecat video. hubby and i have a log thats about 4 feet long that we bring in for play time a few times a month. the ferrets love it.

That reminds me of what i want to do for my ferret room. I want to get like a beam over my bed and even a hidy hole type box for them to go in. It would be like a kitty cat walking beam that i saw some guy had through his hole house, but for ferrets.

I love the log idea. I can't wait for the spring when I'll be taking my kids on walks EVERYWHERE!!
