Well everyone got a notice in my building that they are getting a walk through his Friday coming up. Thanks to my neighbor across the hall who lets his two un fixed cats run the apartment hallway and spray everywhere. Now they found out I have two cats, but they dont know about the two weasels. So today I am shampooing my rugs. My question is has anyone had this happen before and are there any other good ways to cover up weasel/pee smell?? Because my one ferret Thomas takes it upon himself to go to the bathroom anywhere. I always clean up after him but it still smells like pee in my bedroom where he goes the most. I always spray the areas with Urine Off, Natures Miracle and Natural Chemistry No Ordor.

Can you get someone to watch the weasels for the day? That'll get them out of the way for starters. Then go and get yourself a couple of Febreeze Noticables plug-ins. Plug them in in the am, one by the front door, one much further in, and put them on high. By the time the walk through is done, the smell will be covered up.

I'm a little late (I hope everything went okay!) but I wanted to share: I can't use plug ins or air fresheners - my roommate has asthma. She, or any visitors often tell me that the ferrets don't stink like "normal ferrets" lol! I've spent money on carpet cleaners and such, but what has worked the best for me is a vinegar-water solution. I heat the water in a tea pot, pour the vinegar into a glass bowl and then pour the water. I use one of the scrub brush thingys that you can use on dishes... I supposed you could use a toilet brush or something from the dollar store Soak & scrub, and then when it dries (I hate waiting, but you have to wait until it dries!) sprinkle baking soda on the carpet, let it sit for 15-20mins and then vacuum up. That especially helps if you don't like the vinegar smell. It sounds smelly, but it really doesn't - it smells clean and I don't know if its a fluke, but it makes my carpet softer after I vacuum it up

I just used the Nature's Miracle carpet shampoo yesterday(FINALLY got my shampooer back after two months in the shop), and it's worked like a charm! The ferties no longer consider it a litter box

I just used the Nature's Miracle carpet shampoo yesterday(FINALLY got my shampooer back after two months in the shop), and it's worked like a charm! The ferties no longer consider it a litter box We will have to try this. Mom has shampooed the rugs two times this summer but it still smells like dog urine from the dog's bladder stones this winter. To keep my ferret area smelling good, I also take those ferret deodorizing sprays and spray it alllll over- on the bedding, carpets- anywhere they've touched! I've also used baking soda before and it does help to me!

I'd advise her to try it, Emilee. It's meant for that particular purpose. And it WORKS!

I just found a product that I'm hoping will be able to convince the ferrets that certain parts of my vinyl floor are no longer litter boxes. It's called 'Pro-Pet Skunk & Tough Odor Remover' It contains a 'bio-enzymatic odor lock' and claims to be able to remove skunk smell, pet body odors, urine, and smoke from clothes, upholstery, bedding, carpets, floors, and cars. I have no idea whether it will work or not and I can't find it anywhere online to link to it, but the cost was less than half that of Natures Miracle. Has anyone else tried this one yet? So far cleaning with pinesol (citrus scent), vinegar and water, and dilute bleach have all failed. Some days I think it's easier to clean carpet than cheap vinyl squares which have been poorly stuck to an uneven concrete surface... at least you can vacuum and shampoo carpet.

I've never tried it. I use this pet-friendly odor deodorizer thing that is supposed to be used on carpets. If Jasper throws one of his tantrums I use that in the cage, although I haven't had to deal with poop problems outside the box amazingly. *knock on wood* Only messy thing in my room is that the litter box had a lower back to it and he pooped over the edge.

Yeah, seems like the water and vinegar mixture work better then Urine Off and Natures miracle or Natures chemistry. I got some aroma wands by K9 granola Factory and the also seem to work great. Right when u open my door you smell them. I am not into using glade products or frebreeze products. They smell to strong to me and dont seem natural. I dont even think they came by to see my place, I have not even heard from them yet so if they were here it guess whatever I did worked.

put an aroma thing on your vent filter! it will make the entire apartment smell whatever aroma you choose. we did that in my apt when we had our ferrets there. it worked great. you can find them in the hardware section of walmart next to the filters.
