Gah Don't you guys hate fleas? I am having a big issue with fleas at the moment.
They are covered, and no matter what I do nothing seems to be working. Moth balls in the vacum, baking soda, flea spray, drop on the ferrets liquid stuff, I have borax or whatever but I havn't had the time to use it.
I am about to get some more liquid flea kitten stuff, and than clean the whole room. I get wensday, thursday, and friday off so...:hops: I can finaly do things!
Anyone have any thoughts of good flea things to help me?

At night, put a shallow dish of hot soapy water under a lamp in the room your having problems with. The fleas will jump toward the heat, fall in the water and die. My mom showed me this, from her mom. We only saw 1-2 fleas on the dogs, and I was grossed out to see how many fleas ended up in the dish (this was a couple years ago). It was a lot! Yuck! That and apple cider vinegar - and baking soda/frequent vacuuming worked for me I hope that helps you some! I've never had to flea comb a ferret, but flea combing the dog and 'rinsing' the comb in a cup of hat water was more effective than using the chemicals. >.<

the soap and water combo with light.... never would of thought of that. Pretty spiffy.... I will def. keep that little how to in the back of my mind.
You can also use tea tree or a pepperment oil. Put a few drops in the funiture(make sure to test first, so you don't mess your furniture) and around all entrances to the house. Plus if you have dog or cats you can put a few drops on their collars to help keep them out.

I'll have to try to find a light because at the moment i don't own a lamp. I did a major vacume with borax, and baking soda. Did laundry. It like helped, but they came right on back after a couple days. I did it a second time, and it seems to just make things worse. :sigh: I hate opening their cage and finding dead fleas in their water bowl. :shudders: I've tried vinger in the water, I have the herb mint, could i use that for something? where can i get neem oil cheap, or the peppermint oil?

You have to vacuum daily and wash the ferret bedding every other day too. Oh also you probably need to have to yard flea treated or they will keep coming back.

We are having the same problem this year! We have had such a wet year. Wonder it thats it?
I have tried the baking soda on the carpets, vinegar in the water, Washing bedding every other day (dogs and ferrets) and they have Frontline plus on. nothing seems to help!
Flea treating the yard? Do they sell that at the hardware store? Going to try the soap and water tonight.

You can also use candles instead of lamps, the setup differs a little though for this. A large shallow dish or baking pan that is what you fill with the soapy water, a bowl turned upside down that has a base wide enough on which you can set a votive candle goes in the middle of the water filled dish. Put the candle on the bottom of the upside down bowl.
Be sure to set this up in a room where you can guarantee it won't be bumped into over night, or on a tile floor, just on the off chance that the candle made it further than the water when bumped into. Or better yet, set it up in an adjoining room in the evening where you can keep an eye on it.

After I broke my "bendy lamp" I ran to walmart and got one for $5 I've heard good things about Diatomaceous Earth, but I've never used it myself
I'm sorry you guys are having such a rough time with fleas - *fingers crossed* no problems here thus far
