I'm a little frustrated...my girls LOVE to kill things. We've done pinkies, a rat pup, and tonight Moki killed an adult mouse for the first time, which took less than 60 seconds. It was amazing. But I can't get them to eat their prey! I've cut the mice open. I've put ferretone on them. I leave them in their cage for a few hours. They lick at the blood and guts a bit, but never really chomp on them.
Any tips?

Try playing with them....a bit disgusting but some people have had success with them...you know playing tug of war, chase, I know one lady who attached a string to the dead mouse and dragged it around. At the end of the evening, she had a mouse eating ferret. No promises, just some ideas ciao

With mine, I had to start them off with pinkies chopped up and mixed in with their regular meat. We graduated from that to fuzzies, hoppers, then adults, all started the same way, then gradually larger and larger pieces until they were eating them intact.

I've heard of them actually putting them in blenders ...and then adding it to their regular meal in small amounts until they get the idea. I've also heard that this is rather smelly, so perhaps using a blender that is strictly for ferret foods might be an idea. So far I've been lucky... my guys have all taken to them just by watching and making their own kills (I do have a couple who wouldn't dream of doing their own killing...softhearted I guess, because they love their mousicles ) ciao

The blender is a good idea. I bet I could get a fairly inexpensive one just for making ferret meals.
Oh, and a little update...after leaving the mouse in the cage for a bit last night, someone (didn't see which ferret) ate the tail off of it! Probably because it was the only bald part. We're going to have to start with pinkies, I think, because the fur on adult mice seems to freak a lot of ferrets out at first, from what I've been reading.
I'll grab some more pinkies this week, and I'll have my own in about 3 or 4 weeks since I just set up my first mice breeding cage. Yay!
