So, Lexie has a bunch of toys. She has tunnels, a wooden log thing that she can go under, a carrier that is set up all the time for her to lay in. But she never really uses any of it. THe only thing she usually ever uses is her dig box that I made for her. I was wondering if there is a way to get her motivated enough to use those tunnels and such. Thanks!

Ferrets, I find, generally prefer to play with either you, or another animal. Will she go into the tunnels at all? When mine are in them, I "scratch" all along the ridges on top of the tunnel. They'll follow the sound, and my deaf ones will follow the vibrations. I'll "scratch" them out one way, then back up the other. They really seem to enjoy it . As for the other toys, just try playing with them with her. Roll the balls, toss toys to her in the air. Basically, just interact. For the dig box, you could set up a few different ones. Pingpong balls, cornstarch peanuts, leaves, grass, dirt. Basically, whatever your imagination can come up with!

some ferts never play with toys or get bored with them quickly . its best to rotate them give a few then remove them a few day later and give differnt ones and so on . for tunnels play games as Sherry said ,also you could hide treats in them to give her a reason to go in and check it change the configeration often put one end into a box , make a figure 8, for example use your imagination they like to be challenged and explore new things.

I do what Sherry does... scratching the outside of the tunnel. Ghia "answers" me by scratching back. I also toss in a plastic Easter egg with a bell inside for them to push through the tunnel with their noses. Another fun game is stuffing the tube with tissue paper for them to furiously dig out.

Try putting her on an old towel and dragging her around. Fern and Jack really enjoy this one! We also have another version where we have an old recyclable bag that we tied a rope around and we usually place Fern and Jack in there and drag them around. I think this is one of their favorite games. Fern doesn't go into tunnels either. She will only go in if Jack is playing with her.

I also found that ALL toys are much more interesting if there is a blanket over them. When I let my kids out, I take the blanket that covers one the cages and cover the tubes and other toys. they love it!
