I'll admit- I only feed f/t whole prey. Couldn't handle the idea of having to kill anything the munchkins didn't dispatch quickly . That said- I'm starting to wonder if one of them wouldn't prefer her mousie with a little more action! It's Athena. She'll pick it up- give it a little shake. Put it back down gently. Poke it with her nose a couple of times. Then pick it up, shake it quite roughly, drop it, paw at it/poke it. Then repeat, each shake becoming more violent, until she figures she's "killed" it enough, then she promptly sits down to eat the head. That's all she ever eats. She also steals the other's mice if she can, eats all the heads, and leaves the rest. Absolultely no interest in the rest of it- just the heads!

I just think it's hilarious how she "kills" it over, and over, and over again . I'm guessing it's not quite dead enough to eat when it comes out of the freezer

Athena is the one who is so "nasty" to the other ferts, right? I've read some people say that hunting and killing live prey can help take the edge off of really aggressive personalities. It sounds like she would probably be a pretty efficient killer... she's cunning and got good instincts. Mebbe she would like a live mousie to kill... just a thought.

I really do wish I could bring myself to do just that, but I've come to accept that f/t is as far as I am willing to go. At least right now . 6 months ago, I never thought I could do whole prey, either, so who knows
