Its been raining pretty much non-stop for the past month here in MO. I was bummed because I havent been able to take the kids outside every day like they are used to.

I got to thinking though, instead of letting the rain ruin the fun, why not incorporate it into the kid's enrichment program? I think a cool way to provide enrichment for ferrets might be take em outside when it is raining or sprinkling. I think that as long as they are on heartworm preventative, not drinking stagnant water, and you arent doing this in the middle of a lightning storm (lol) your ferts might actually have a fun time.

Letting them splash in puddles, and enjoy a warm summer rain could be pretty fun for the little guys. Just be sure you wear a poncho or have an umbrella!

I plan on trying this out the next time it rains, and if they decide they want to go run through a mud puddle, so be it! I'll let em have their fun.......

Then its straight inside for bath time!

definately! i take my babies in their cage(i take all the bedding out first) when it rains-and there's no lightning!!! they have a blast inside the cage because it's like a little pool cuz the FN has the lipped edges on the trays. they splash around in there and it's like a bath away from the bath. i know they love it. i haven't been able to do it in a while cuz we haven't had any rain without lightning in a long time...maybe again in the summer

I took Apple outside in the rain one time because I knew he was aching to go outside. I took him on his leash, it wasn't hard rain, but the grass was wet and there were puddles. He loved it! He hates it inside when I spray him with water, but as long as its his "choice" to get wet, he loves it! Lately its been hard heavy rain, hopefully not tonight, its time we were outside again! But I highly suggest taking your ferret(s) out in the rain, esp if its warm inside, then they can cool down and have fun!
