I just got my girl a week ago and have been having so much fun playing with her and watching her so curious of everything. Well I have seen so many pictures of fur babies playing in water that I thought I would give it a go and let her splash around a bit.
However to my surprise she really didn't like it. Maybe it was the noise from the water faucet or what but she peed then pooped when I put her in the tub and she got wet.
Do you think she may have had bad bath experiences with the previous owners? Any tips for this?

My ferrets also do not like it. they are fine for bath but the shampoo part makes them wet themselves.

Try putting down a towel on the bottom of the tub, and don't put very much water in it- only about a third of the way toward the back of the tub. Put in some toys for her. You could also put in some bottle caps floating in there with ferretone in them. Or if she likes salmon oil use that instead! Also make sure she has a way to get out of the tub when she wants, like a bath mat that will hold in place so she can climb out and in.

Both my guys don't like this. They are also fine with water but when the shampoo comes they pee/poo. I like sherrylynne's idea. I'm going to try this out, we have buckets in the tub and we put water in there plus toys that float. Try giving her treats while she's in there, maybe it will calm her down.

One thing I found with my guys was to make sure the water was as warm as you or I like it. On the toasty side You have to remember that ferrets natural body temp is around 102....so if you make it "baby" warm...that's darn cold in their books. I also try not to have water running when I put them in. It doesn't seem to matter as much when it's the pool, but when it's the bath tub I find that water temp is a real biggy. Yes, I have a couple who think it's absolutely fantastic until I add the soap ...then we soil the water... poor little bums. ciao

Thanks for the advice! I will definatly give that a try. I also did make the water "baby" warm too. I will make sure it is nice and warm for her next time.

I put a towel draped over the tub so she could get in and out with a few toys and very little water. A few days of this and she is having some crazy ferret fun! She goes all crazy when she is wet. It was a real bonding experience. Ty!

I'm glad she's enjoying it! I've got some real water rats, but I also have some who absolutely hate even getting their feet wet
