howdy all
The weather is getting warmer, so I gave a thought a try. I put about an inch of water in the bottle of a kitten litter box and put it in the bottom of my cage. jack likes to dig in water, and the cage has a bottom so even if they tip it, the water will just get on the bottom. It's not deep enough to hurt them, but it'll be something for them to play with while in their cage durring the warmer hours when i'm not home.
Does anyone else do this? or is this bad
Thanks, cara

Sounds brilliant .....but??? I know how much water comes out of a water bowl (that's what my guys drink out of...the parrot type that fit on the side of a cage) I would hate to think how much water ferrets could make that into inside a cage Picture...ferrets...kitty litter pan.....water...deep enough that they can dig in.........they soaked the queen sized comforter that the pan was on....2 blankies at the bottom of the stairs.....and they even soaked my well made (and clean I might add ) bed Ferrets are little sponges They absorb at least 3x their own weight in water, which they take great pleasure in distributing everywhere. Do you know what a ferret who is soaking wet looks like after he dries himself out in the litter pan Your little babies are going to want to dry up somewhere. If not snorkling in their litter pans then they will use their bedding. This is the voice of experiences....nightmarish experiences speaking. No, it's really a great idea, but if you plan to do this because it's going to make your life easier.....don't do it Give them a pan of water to play in somewhere where you know they won't make a horrific mess that you're going to have a h*** of a time cleaning up and anyway...you're going to want to be there....it's hysterical ciao

Lol Heather! I had to get rid of all my water dishes on the floor forever after one of mine decided splashing the water out was great fun, she just digs and digs and kicks it all over. Not good. Occansionally I fill up a tub I have and put toys in and have supervised play but not without me around.

Our fuzzies have a pool in their enclosure. Its basically a big tray, 2-4" of water, pebbles in the bottom (big enough to avoid them swallowing them, small enough that they can shift them about), the sides are about 1' high and then there is a tube coming out of the side with puppy pee pads in the bottom to help dry them off as they come out. Never had a problem with them soaking bedding etc. I am sure I have some pics somewhere *goes to search for pics*.

I don't care about making my life easier! As long as my kids are happy, and cool. They didn't realy get anything wet, but the bottom of my cage was wet. Bleck, and stinky because "someone" apparently doesn't like using the acual litter box.
I love wet ferrets. I use to fill a tub with water and place toys that sink in it. Jack made a mess, but he had tons of fun making me have to search for my cage conector peices when he was done with them. He apparently doesn't like them in water...
Monsters Anti-water. You stick his feet in water and he spazz's out.
