If your getting your ferrets food from a hunter, Would the hunter clean and disinfect the animal after he's caught it? What would you have to do to make it safe for the ferrets to eat?

What exactly is it you're concerned about being harmful about hunted meat? If anything, it's almost certainly much healthier and fresher than anything you've ever seen packed in plastic at a supermarket.
"Cleaning" a carcass refers to the removal of entrails and/or organs... sometimes also the draining of blood if that's the hunters taste. But there is no disinfecting of any meat... nor would you want there to be. All you really need be concerned about is that there is no bullets or shot left in what you give to your fert.

Nope, not really. When your out in the field you dispatch, gut then pack kills. Some hunters rinse the insides out to make sure nothing is left on the meat that will taint it, then its frozen or sold. I use rabbits flushed by the ferrets and dispatched (killed) by hand by myself and have never had a problem. I prefer wild meat over the supermarket stuff anyway! Dont want growth hormones, anti-B's, wormers etc inside my fuzzies from the meat If you can, stay away from animals that have been shot with a lead bullet but if you do get them that were shot with a leady cut away the meat around them.

If you are concerned about parasites, etc., simply freeze for a couple of weeks to make certain anything that may be in there is killed.

Yeah, it's the parasites I'm worried about, So freezing is a good idea. And also, the bullets, You just brought that to my attention, I'll check what kind of bullet he uses, if it's not lead (Which I'm pretty sure it is) What would be a...well, a safe bullet? Which is kind of an oxymoron, Hahh. Well, I'll jsut cut around the bullet hole anyway.
Yeah, Your right this would be the freshest most natural thing in the world to them, I'll just freeze it to kill away the parasites. x3
Thanks!, x33

Steel bullets are best but not often used, also I THINK (dont hold me to it) Caster and Iron bullets are safe, regardless, its best to cut away around the bullet anyway (quick tip..get an apple corer for this! Surround the bullet and push the corer though it to take away the meat from the bullet...I probably just confused you then? I think I confused my self lol.)
