Urine?? Your ferret must be an oddball. Ferret tails smell like grape. I think it has something to do with being on a good diet, I could be wrong.. Ferrets on bad diets smell like.. Ferrets.. And when ferrets are on a good diet their tails take on a sweet grapey smell. At least IMO.. I've never smelled grape tail on ferrets who eat icky diets. -~Ketlin That's funny, because I was thinking they *lost* the smell of cornchips & grape koolaide when on raw/whole prey. Before I incorporated whole prey & some raw, mine smelled like cornchips & their tails smelled like grape koolaide...now that I supplement whole prey & some raw, they seem to ahve lost that smell...which I actually miss. The girl who ferret sits for me, (she's the one wiht Zeus & Zora) said my ferrets have virtually no smell, compared to Z &Z. She feeds pretty much the same kibble blend that I do, the only difference is that I supplement whole prey & some raw. Now, the smell comes from when litterboxes need to be changed, or one of them poofs.. Sorry!!!! I hit the "Modify" button instead of "Quote" -Ketlin-

Yeah, the ONLY thing that smells is their tails and cheeks which you can only smell it you dig your noses into their fur. and obvously their litter boxes, but their poo in the box has hardly any smell its the urine.

My Liddle has the grapey tail as well, and she's on high-protein kibble.
You know, I might have a clue about what that grapey smell might be. When cells process fatty acids to obtain energy, they produce ketones as a byproduct... and ketones have a weird artificial fruity smell.

Oh, speaking of the cornchip smell (which by the way I love) Taccato still has it when she wakes up, which was the only time any of them had it. I hope it stays, but if they have been snoozing, wake them up and see if you can smell it. It *may* still be there.

But Lakota was fed Marshalls before I got her and her tail did not smell grapey until the switch. Then there is Ravi, Lillian and Weezer who have been on nothing but raw and whole prey for a long time and their tails still smell grapey. -~Ketlin
