For you New England (and specifically NH ferrents)! I was changing the kids litterboxes today, and the newspaper I get to line their boxes had an ad for this place: The Healthy Buffalo They have buffalo, ostrich, quail, wild boar, venison, elk, kangaroo, pheasant, rabbit, antelope, frog legs, duck and alligator! Since the paper is a free NH 'zine, I got really excited! Turns out, it's a bit of a drive for me, about 35 miles on non-highway, BUT they do home deliveries (which is actually their main source of income!) I am so completely STOKED. Their prices seem high but they are obviously 'exotic' meats. The biggest excitement lies in the fact that they have rabbit and pheasant, both of which I desperately wanted to find and could not. And shipping will considerably cheaper than from Hare Today too since it's local. I'm one happy weasel momma right now

You are soooo lucky. Please let us know how it goes. My guys love emu, buffalo, duck and elk. They've never had 'roo but they love ostrich eggs (it was just a bit off my omlet), alligator...now there's a new protein source...certainly not a part of what they would hunt but I've heard that it's tasty. Yes, those meats are certainly expensive but nice to feed for a treat...in cases like that what I usually do is they get slices off our meats before they're cooked (all the meat is human grade) ciao

That sounds great!! Don't forget to ask about the scraps too, like heads from the rabbits and smaller birds.. And organs too. It's still exotic meat but costs much less or sometimes is even free!!

I'm going to definitely ask about that, too! I emailed the owner and asked about a few things but didn't outright tell him I'm excited about feeding ferrets, since it's clearly intended as human food As it turns out, a restaurant in town here uses them as a supplier (they serve ostrich and boar, most notably,) so the delivery charges will be zero since I can just meet them at the restaurant to pick up my purchases! That makes it extremely affordable, and if I can get scraps, well - I'm in raw feeding heaven! I think I'm going to end up coordinating visits with some other people around NE to share the wealth; and when going to shows I can certainly brings some orders with me to exchange, too (keep that in mind Renee! Tipsy can get buffalo!)
