That is excellent! You must be so proud of her. Once you go shopping and get everything you need for her, you should probably post in a little more often. She's getting to the point where everything will probably go a bit faster. Both you and Letty are on your way

I will be posting more. Just been sick lately. Bad stomach bug. No fun kissing the toilet. Everyone at work thinks I'm pregnant! Haha Not a chance... What all should I pick up? So I don't have to wait to go to the store every few days.

I do hope your feeling better! Stomach bugs are certainly no fun. The main thing to remember is you need 3 sources of protien. So, any of the below will do. It just depends on what you can get, and tailor to your budget! Ok, here's what I pick up for mine(Boris can't have chicken, so just substitute ). Pork steak, butt roast, and/or heart/liver(if you can find it) Beef heart, CHEAP beef roast, and/or tongue, liver/kidney Turkey/duck necks-you could do chicken necks Whole duck Chicken liver/heart/gizzard Since you can feed chicken, legs/thighs, wings Quail Baggies for the freezer That's what I pick up for my guys. Remember- I have 4. AND I'm transitioning my cats . I know- I'm a sucker for punishment. I also buy things frozen, as where I am, it's cheaper! You can defrost, chop and bag, and refreeze, no problem. If you have a decent pair of kitchen shears, it makes the job much easier! I find for most people, chicken and pork are good starting points, as they are readily available, and tend to be less expensive. Let me know how the shopping trip goes

I got some livers and tongue. Letting the tongue thaw so I can slice it up. I have to go into Omaha tomorrow so I'm picking up more meat there. Cheaper. I live in a small town...and you have to drive a bit to get to a "city" so the little towns can charge more since nobody wants to drive.
I may look at petco at the ferrets too...uh oh! Lol
Switching your cat? I'd like to switch my dogs...seems like such an obstacle! And possibly more expensive than kibble?

Pm me and I will talk to you about switching your dog. It's easy and it can be cheaper than high end kibbles. ciao

Make sure you use a nice sharp knife for the tongue, as the skin can be tough. You've made a good start! It'll be interesting to see how Letty takes to the new variety in her diet

Congratulations! ! Since Bamf is so young, he will def. be an easy switch! I know Lucrezia was. Try him out with a couple of small chunks, see what he does.

Letty is doing well. Tried a drumstick for the first time. She ate most of it. She cleans up most of the entire wings now too. Just leaves a bit of the thicker bones. I got a very large family size package of wings for under $4. And a very large family size pack of thighs for under $3. Whoo hoo! Lol Bamf...I cut up some chicken for him...kinda cheated. I put just a tiny drop of tone on a few pieces. He scarfed them down! So I gave him a few pieces of chicken without the tone. Ate them all and looked for more! Haha I think he will be a lil piggy... Bamf

Oh, most excellent ! I'd keep giving Bamf a variety of meats, so he doesn't imprint on one or two. And he's old enough to try the chicken wings as well! Now, we just have to get the kids trying a few different meats, as well as organ meat/liver! He is adorable, by the way . In the pic, his eyes almost look like they could be blue!

I think the flash just made his eyes look blue. But oh my! He's a little oinker! Haha He is eating very well.
They both ate some tongue and a tiny slice of liver. I couldn't find any duck, but do have chicken, beef, pork and turkey to switch things up with for now.

You definitely have enough to start a scheduled menu to see how they do! How big are the chunks they are eating now? I would gather you are using the chicken for bone. As for liver, they can have a little bit daily, or a few times a week, or once a week. Whatever works for you. As long as it's no more than the "chicken liver size" per week. That's the beauty of a raw diet! You can do what works for you, and for your ferts

Yes, the chicken is bone in meats. I can stick in a whole leg, wing or thigh and they will tear it up! Lol even Bamf. I tried a leg with him and he ate 3/4 of the meat and some of the bone on the end in minutes. How often should they get bone? Daily? Few times a week?

Bone in meat, with a goodly bit of meat on it? 4 days a week. They are doing so well with this! And so are you.
