She is eating more now. And larger chunks. She already seems more energetic. She was kind of mellow before.

That is excellent ! I just get so excited when a new ferret seems to take to raw so quickly and so well! And you will notice a difference fairly quickly. Since they can make so much more use of the proteins in the meat than the kibbles, their energy is affected first. Keep up the good work! Are you taking out the kibbles a while beforehand? About how much is she eating? If she's doing well with the chicken, I think I'd try giving her a taste of something else, now, as well! Good luck, and let me know what happens

She is eating about an ounce and half a day now of meat. Doesn't touch the kibble really. I got some pork cutlets and she went crazy over them. She'll eat off the large whole pieces of meat now. She made it easy on me switching! Lol

Woohoo!!! You rock! I am so glad she's doing as well as she is I think I'd take out the kibble entirely in that case, see how she does. Also, try giving her a chicken wing tip and let her play with it. She might eat it, she might not. But it's worth a shot

I have to go to the store tonight so I will pick up some wings. I'm cooking a whole turkey today...what about the neck and giblets from that?

Sounds great! I know mine love them . You do know you are doing great? All the giblets can be fed as muscle meats, except the liver. That, they can only have once a week, or a LITTLE bit a day, else possible projectile poops are in the offing . Not fun. For the turkey neck, you'll probably have to smash and chop it up, as the vertebrae are a bit too big for them at the start. They have to build up the jaw strength to chow down properly on larger bones. You'll have a raw fed fuzz in no time, the way you're going! And you will love the difference in her.

She went right for the wing tip! She is defiantly coming around in all ways. When I first got her she was so mellow. I'd let her out and she would just walk around quietly. And she was kind of wobbly sometimes...and would just kind of stare off into space. I thought maybe insulinoma. But now she doesn't do any of that. She's very alert and plays a lot now. And yesterday I heard her first dook! She hasn't made any noise since than...I thought maybe cause she was deaf. But she has done a complete turn around. Very happy I found this forum and a great mentor

Thank you . Isn't it amazing what a good diet can do? And Letty is coming along so quickly! Now, since she's gone for the wing tips, try her with the middle segments, cut in half lengthwise between the bones. Also, I think it's time to introduce her to chicken livers. Try cutting them in slivers and see if she'll eat them. Now, if I'm correct, she's getting chicken wing tips, small chicken cubes, and what other kinds of meat? If you could give me an idea of the type of variety, and the size of the cubes she's eating now, it would be great!

She has had chicken breast...chicken wing...pork cutlets...some of the turkey giblets (liver, heart). Hasn't refused any of it. I can put a pork cutlet a lil smaller than a deck of cards and half as thin...into her cage and she will tear of pieces and eat it. I'll have to try another whole wing today when I feed her.

BRAVO!!! Letty is such an amazing little girl! And you are doing an absolutely wonderful job! So- she's eating chicken, pork, and turkey so far, as well as bones and liver. Wow . Next, I'd try some beef, and lamb. She can also have cornish hen, duck and quail, if you're not into whole prey. Don't forget- the heart is muscle meat, and for liver, or other secreting organs, no more than one chicken-sized piece of liver a week. This little girl will be on a balanced raw diet in no time

I'll have to wait to pick up some different meat when I go to the store again. I don't eat beef much anymore. Switched to healthier ground turkey. She's eating between 1.5 and 2 ounces a day. She seems to like the pork cutlets the best still. What cuts of beef are good to buy?

For any meats, I buy as cheap as possible! For beef, try heart, tongue if you can get it, basically any cut that fits into your budget Those two are the cheapest, though. As for the turkey, if you can get intact thigh/drumstick, or whathave you, I'd give those instead of ground for her. And with the pork, try switching it up when you go to the store. Get a really cheap rump roast, or pork steaks. The more variety, the better . And right now, 1.5-2 oz is really good. You'll probably find that as she gets more comfortable with this diet, her appetite will increase.
