Our fuzzers live outdoors in an 8 *6 shed, with a custom run built on the side...my husband built the run for me, we finished it last month, and I still can't help but grin when I see it
The shed looks a little barren at the moment, we are in the planning process and are going to build a full height/width cage into the back 2-3ft of the shed, but not started yet. They did have a tall superpet cage in there, but we adopted a senegal parrot whose cage was way too tiny, so the ferrets agreed that they wouldn't miss the cage for the time being and donated it to Birdy - who is very greatful and loves the big increase in space!
Inside the shed, painted to make it a bit more sheery, and a bit less garden-shedy The table is just temporary storage.
I've added a 3 inch band of black gloss to make accidents easier to clean up, and I think it makes it look a bit smarter...
The attached run:
Finished painting, and with a few toys thrown in And fairy lights around the top so I can see them when it's dark out
We put a catflap between the shed and the run:
As the run is totally enclosed, the catflap is left unlocked pretty much 24/7 - I think the only time I lock it is when I want to clean the shed or the run in peace It's 4 way, so we can lock it, leave it open, have it in only or out only. The only problem is that with the one-way locks, they've discovered that they can either sneak in while on sneaks out, or that they can scratch at it and occasionally catch a nail under the flap just enough to pull it open.... what can you do, eh?
You can just about see the cat shelter we bought in the corner of the run, the blue boxy thing. I've put some bedding in there for them, and since the run was finished, I don't think I've gone up there without finding at least one of them asleep in it. Hubby is chuffed that they like being in it so much that they even opt to sleep out there - he says it makes it worthwhile having made it, and wishes he'd made it for me sooner.
It took us about 3 weeks to cut and put together, but we only got time to work on it in the evenings, when it was dark and normally a bit rainy! I don't think we did too badly for office workers with no experience and only a 60w bulb for light LOL (Ok, I mainly held things in place, helped nail wire on and paint, can't take praise for measureing, cutting or calculating measurements!)
