The babies, Mystic & Majik came "pre-trained" to eat whole mice, so they have been getting their mice on a regular basis, supplemented with the kibble on hand for them. A couple of my others have been "curious" as to what the babies are eating, but I never saw any try to eat one until last night, before I left for work, I put three mice in there to see what would happen, & Xander took one & kept trying to eat it, chewing on it, but one of the babies kept taking it from him, so he'd go find another one that had been stashed & start chewing on it. Yay! He is converting himself! (I was really hoping the curiosity would play a part in getting the others to eat mice.) Three more to go..... ;D

Isn't it great? Sometimes having a "brother" or "sister" to show them how to eat the food really helps! Once we converted Mizu, it was so much easier to convert Fugue. That is great news! Good luck with the others converting! Keep us posted!

Xander actually got to eat some of his mouce today, before Mystic took it from him. She was on the top level with hers, "killing it", she ate a bit, then hid hers & went & stole Xanders. Majik ate the head of his then stashed it for later. Goofy.

Ferrets naturally cache (or hide) their food. Some do it more then others (mine dont do it at all). If you feed in the bathtub or in a feeding cage, then you dont have to worry about digging through your house for petrified mouse morsels lol!
Go Xander! How are the others doing? Anyone else "ferret" enough to try the mousie?

Not yet. Zena, my "princess" warrior, aka vampire ferret kinda had this "ewww, what is that nasty thing?" look when I gave it to Xander. Here's some pics of last nights mouse feast. =) First, Mystic has to "attack & kill" hers... Majik takes his to the litterbox-which is why I always clean it right before they get mice =) Xander goes for tail first...it's a delicassy Nom nom nom.... Then, being the "princess" that she is, Mystic wipes her face on the clean bedding....

With larger prey (quail, guinea pig, rabbit) it can get a little messy, but not even that bad. Mice and smaller rats are nothing!
Thanks for the pics, Heather! Mind if I ad them to the Holistic Ferret Photo Album?

I gave them a turkey neck, which they started a tug of war with, & I did get some pics, but I have to load them & resize them. I will post more soon. =)
