Hello everyone! I was wondering is Stella and Chewy's a complete diet? If I fed different kinds of meats? Or should it just be fed as a treat? I've been thinking it may actually be cheaper than what I'm feeding right now, because where I shop the meat is pretty spendy. Would it be ok to feed whole meat some days and Stellla and Chewy's other days? Thanks!

Yes, Stella and Chewy's is a complete diet.
I vary the kind I use between the lamb, beef, and chicken and beef. Not only does it give them oral enrichments, as you mention it gives them little different nutrients with the different meats.
Feeding whole meat (and I assume organs and bones) some days, and S&C others would be fine. Once again, they are getting enrichments and different textures - but complete meals. As you know, you want to make sure your RMB days are fed in the right percentages.
Along with Stella and Chewy's, you should check out AFS.

Mine get S&C occasionally, usually when I'm running out of time or have totally forgotten to pull something from the freezer to thaw. I just break up a patty into several chunks and leave it in their dish, and they're very happy with it.
The one time I tried to rehydrate it (which took a long time, too!), all three gave me that insulted "that's gross" stare. YMMV.

Yes, I feed the dehydrated patties. I break it into chunks, and then rehydrate them. Unlike Kerit's ferrets, mine get upset if I DON'T rehydrate them. They look at me like, "mom, you forgot to add water!"

Oh, and it takes about 15 minutes to rehydrate the patties. Alhtough they like it better soaked longer, they''' eat it after 15 minutes or so.

They look at me like, "mom, you forgot to add water!"  They also don't care for Archetype wet, although I think I'm going to start at least dampening it. Last week my mother was watching them during the day, and she called me at work with a minor freakout because Pocus had apparently gotten some stuck in his throat and had a marathon coughing and sneezing session. He worked it out on his own and was just fine, but Archetype can be so dusty, especially at the bottom of the bag. I like the compressed S&C patty shape better now! |
