Hey! I've been wanting to bring up this product for a long time: www.nativeremedies.com/petalive/cushex-adrenal-support-dogs-cats.htmlBasically it's an herbal supplement that helps dogs and cats with cushings disease which is basically the same as adrenal gland disease in ferrets (hyperadrenocorticism). This product is even better for ferrets with both adrenal and insulinoma because it also balances blood sugar levels. They also have this product: www.nativeremedies.com/petalive/glucobalance-normal-blood-sugar-levels-dogs-cats.htmlThis one says on the site that it's for diabetes, but since it normalizes/balances blood sugar and insulin levels, and supports the pancreas, it could be helpful to insulinoma ferrets. What do you guys think? Aesha and the Ferret Droogies (Reks, Pandora, and Sari)

I'd be interested to hear some feedback on this product, since obviously cats and dogs and ferrets are not the same, but similar. Mustelidmusk? Heather? What are you thinking??

Ok, found myself doing some research on this one Fenugreek: ** may interfere with hypoglycemic therapies, and other medications as the absorbtion of drugs taken may be affected because of the high mucilagionus fiber content (similar problems result in the constant use of slippery elm powder). It can be used as a laxative and it lowers blood sugar.** Galega officinalis (Goat’s Rue): ** Goat's rue was once important in the treatment of plague, fevers and infectious diseases[238]. It is still used in modern herbalism, though mainly for its effect in promoting milk-flow in lactating mothers (it has been shown to increase the flow of milk in cows and goats by 35 - 50%[4, 7, 238]) and for its positive effect on the digestive system[238]. The plant contains galegine, an alkaloid that strongly reduces blood sugar levels which make it useful in the treatment of diabetes[254]. The leaves and flowering tops are diaphoretic, diuretic, galactogogue and hypoglycaemic[4, 7, 21, 165]. It has also been used in the treatment of fevers[4, 7]. It is taken internally to treat insufficient lactation, late-onset diabetes, pancreatitis and digestive problems, especially chronic constipation caused by a lack of digestive enzymes[238]** Most of the herbs that are involved appear to be used to lower blood sugar levels, not stabalize them, so my concern would be for ferrets with insulinoma who have a problem with plummeting blood sugars. I'm more than a little interested to see what anyone has to say about this because it would be wonderful if we could indeed control this hated disease with something as simple as a few herbs. I'm going to continue reading some studies on it and will get back to you if I find something different. In the meantime, I'm open to any other ideas or information. ciao

Interesting! It says that it normalizes blood sugar levels on both products in the summary, but I guess "normal" for a cat and dog is different in that they have problems with high blood sugar (ie, diabetes) whereas ferrets have the opposite problem...so maybe it isn't a balancer like I thought... Great info you gathered! I would like to see what else you find out! Aesha and the Floofs (Reks, Pandora, and Sari)
