I'm so excited, I have thought about the food issue, I don't care much for the smell of the Marshall's food anyway, so I thought ok now is the time to switch them, so, I browned some ground deer meat to almost done, I then mixed in some water so it would be like a gravy, I then mixed up the Marshall's ferret food with one part water and then mixed the two parts gravy and ground deer meat. It mixed real good and I took it in for them to have their supper. I poured it on to a deep plastic plate. They ate a bunch of it, so I poured the rest into one of their crocks and they were eating it before bed.
I would like to try a lot of different meats so they will be open to a variety of meats, I'm going to mix it all with the Marshall's pellets until they are all gone, I am going tomorrow and get a few different pellet foods you all mentioned before to mix with our dry so they will get a taste for other pellets.
I don't see the harm in mixing that Marshall's with other ferret foods and all different meats, it may help them change over quicker. They seemed to eat the ground deer better than the chicken I tried before. I'm going to try it all and get them to like so much more.
Like I have mentioned, I have a friend who owns a 9 year old ferret, this ferret has never been given meat ever and has only eaten cat food for all it's life, and I'm sure not the most expensive either, this ferret looks good and is 9 years old.
I would like mine to be on meat and even get a mouse every now and then to, but I would like for them to have a little kibble in their sleep pen incase they have a desire for it, or they need a snack in the middle of the night. ;D
I am so happy with them,
They are doing real good.
