Hey guys, long time no see!
I am trying to find out the best type of item/machine to help me grind the meat, bones and skin(if the skin is an issue i'm fine leaving that out). If you have recommendations for brands or models please let me know.
I need some help making the proccess a bit easier now that my time is limited as I was pulling meat off the bone and then using the food processor and then the blender.. it was too much time and mess and didn't produce much meat. I am trying to go back t the ground meat and work my way up again, but i'd prefer to have fresh ground than packaged if possible.

Last I looked into grinders, Silly Pugs had some godd info and prices. They sell the Sam Baere grinders that are rated for bone. Pugs had the best prices for online stores. www.sillypugs.com/Also, last September, a dealer stared selling Sam Baere grinders on e-bay for great deals (specials). I haven't looked lately. If you need to go cheaper, I've heard that the following also works well on bone: Waring Pro MG-800 biowww.net/AWS/index.php?Operation=ItemLookup&ItemId=B0000CEUREyou should be able to pick on up for about 170. You'll read about the tasin, but silly pugs had discussion on that - looks like quality went down, and ultimately Sam Baere picked up the line and is backing the product - but beware of the "TS" and its lookalike - as well as those claiming to be tasins. Also, beware of the 2400 HP grinders on ebay - the ratings can be BS - ya get what you pay for..... What dd I finally do? I decided on a pretty $$$ from cabelas - and then came to my senses - I don't have TIME to mess with this So, I still pay premium prices for commercial food thats probably not as fresh (frozen longer) and not as good (less control). Please feel free to PM me on this if you post more questions and I seem to be MIA - would be good to keep the info public in this thread. But my ancient brain gets distracted these days, and I forget to check threads my brats willl be jealous of yours if you get a grinder and their Mommy actually "cooks" for them instead of getting those crappy TV dinners -jennifer

really? on the sites i looked at it said it wasn't made for use in the US. "This item is made to work on 220-240 volt 50 hertz electricity. It is for use outside the USA ."
thanks mustiledmusk, I will start reading on those sites.

I've never seen a severin meat grinder - the problem is that we have 220 in the US for our washer/dryers,and oven/stoves (I think those are 220 - not sure.) anyway, our houses have 120 only, so an adapter plg won't even do the trick. Also, Fuzzbutt, you will wat to make sure you get a unit that has "reverse" on it. There's a Sam Baere 1800 Watt unit on ebay for 169.99 - Buy it Now, free shipping. (See below) Check everything in this guys store. He sell different packages. Watch shipping - some of these units get heavy. This model (and the larger on is featured on a U-tube video, which is good to watch. depending on how much/how often you need to grin, quality involves not only the motor strength, but also the following,(so be sure to read about any units at their respective web sites before buying) -reverse mode for unjamming) - required - not all grinders have this - blades are not cheap - some are hardened more than other, many are not stainless and must be hand washe/dried What is the cost of the replacement blades and will they be available a few years from now??? - internal components - are the steel? pot metal, etc.? -neck siize - I think the SB1800 has a 2'' neck where you put the meat into.....you want no smaller that what that unit has - what other stuff comes with it - like sausage stuffers that you're paying for but may not even want (but extra "knives "and blades are good) -pan size - is it large enough - or are you constantly adding meat to the feeder pan so ginding gets messy and takes forever because you're constantly reloading. -SIZE & WEIGHT - the bigger units are HUGE (70+ lbs) (shipping cost, of course) I strongly encourge you to watch the videos on U-tube - there are some for other brands as well. It looks like fun, but the reality of it for me is that I just won't get to it - I have enough chores (including poop scrubbing that takes me forever with my "creative poopster" EBAY link: (it's probably easiest to search for Sam Baere Grinder! cgi.ebay.com/2-4-HP-1800W-SAM-BAERE-Electric-Meat-Grinder-BONES-DEER_W0QQitemZ270333802908QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSmall_Kitchen_Appliances_US?hash=item270333802908&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 -jennifer

It grinds the skin, meat, bones, etc. I got it on sale for around $109.00, but I think now its around $116.00. It works great though!! I grinds everything so incredibly fast. Its called the Northern Industrial Electric Meat Grinder, Item # 168620. The website is listed below! Happy Shopping! www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_36989_36989
