Now that I've FINALLY posted pics of the ferrets, I'll post pictures of my other pets. This is Ted, he's almost 2 years old. He is a lab/bloodhound mix. I adopted him from the shelter in April. He has severe food and environmental allergies and hip dysplasia, and needs hip replacement surgery, but I wouldn't trade him for the world. He's a fantastic guard dog and so well behaved. Here are my cats: Smokey is almost 16 and hyperthyroid. He is one of those psycho cats that hospital workers dread him coming in and even owners think their cats are crazy. But he's always been "my cat" and I'm the only one that can do anything with him. Frodo is my 5 year old male. He was my 16th birthday present. He was also kind of a present for Smokey because he was depressed after we had to put his lifetime companion, Ebby, to sleep. Here are the sisters, Isolde (Izzy, tabby and white) and Penelope (black and white). I adopted them from a client at work who fosters for the shelter.

Thank you thank you! Right now I'm switching the cats to raw too, so pretty soon all my pets will be raw!

They are all adorable!!!!!! I love Ted espeacially.
I hope you have ease going to raw and that it works out well. My dog Tessa has hypothyroidism and she came to us on a high dosage of thyroid medication and since the switch to a raw diet the dosage keeps going down and she's actually about to come off the medication. People usually believe that things like that aren't curable but they are.

Haha, thanks! I love my hound dog.
I'm hoping the raw will help my hyperthroid cat. His thyroid levels are so out of wack that we are entering year 3 of trying to get it under control. The first amount of meds we put him on made his levels too low, so we backed off, checked it again, and it was too high. So we increased the dosage, and that cause severe GI upset. So we backed off, then it was ok-but-not-in-normal range. Then it was too high, so we incresed the dosage. And it's just been a vicious cycle. He's currently on 15mg of the medicine daily, and the average hyperthyroid cat is on 5mg per day.
I feel horrible that it's like that, and he's so thin. But he's still in good condition and still beats the snot out of my younger male. He loves to snuggle and still even plays. I think the thin thing has to do with his teeth and the fact that he is unable to eat kibble much anymore (something we didn't realize until 2 weeks ago) so I increased his canned food intake (mixing canned with raw to transition). He's not a candidate for a dental either due to his thyroid levels. I'm crossing my fingers that the raw will help in some way.
