I'm new at having ferrets so i love going to ferret forums to learn all that i can about them.I have always been an animal lover.I'm enjoying these ferrets they are sooooo lovable and they are very quiet.I got Nicky who is in between 2 and 3 years old from someone on the uncle henry's.Nicky came with the super pet deluxe home which i like but i think they should have made the doors more bigger to make getting the litter box out easier. And Vito i bought a few days later from petco so that way Nicky could have someone to hang with when i'm not home. Both Nicky and Vito are from marshall's farm.Vito was already litter trained which was great he has made a few mistakes but thats because he's only 3 months old.but he does good. They get along very good with my pug Lucky.

Thursday morning vito got caught in the recliner but he was no crushed cause when they are running around we do not use the recliner but somehow he got up inside it and there was string in there that got wrapped around him we hurried to cut him out and then we had to take him to the vet he was bleeding internaly they operated but there was nothing causing the bleeding so she said its caused my stress and vito stayed overnight at the vets home he is doing better he is now home he is on baby food and medicine.i just hope and pray that he recovers fully.i also found out that vito is not a boy like petco had said he is a girl.i feel so awfull that this happened.we ripped the back of the recliner more the other day to make sure there is no more string in there so its clear now.the vet says vito is not out of the woods yet cause the bleeding internally could have caused problems with her kidneys but only time will tell but one good thing is she is young so hopefully she will bounce back.i have her seperated from nicky i rearranged the cage so that vito is blocked off so she can have peice and quiet and lots of rest.

First of all...welcome! You have come to the right place if you have questions that need answering...or just to have some good ferret fun. I am so sorry about Vito...but my Piper had major surgery in January, and a week later you would have never known it. Good luck with keeping him peaceful and quiet. In my experience, it won't happen. Vito won't let it! Those chairs can be dangerous. We have them too, and I always worry, especially since I have 4 kids, and 7 ferrets. We are lucky, though, and haven't had that happen yet. Wish him a speedy recovery (it will be anyway!) I think ferrets are more resiliant than people! Welcome!!

ugg I'm so sorry to hear that. I have a recliner to..and no one is allowed on it now that my babies are here. I love that they like to explore my living room, but I think my bedroom is going to make the better alternative for them to free roam.
Good luck with her recovery. Thats so cute that shes a she lol

Vito is doing good she is now back to eating her hard food.I guess i'll keep her name Vito i'm so used to calling her Vito.I still haven't let her play with Nicky yet cause of the stitches but she goes in next week to have them removed.I'm am soooo happy that she is getting better and thankyou all for your prayers!!:)Yesterday i adopted another ferret i couldn't help it but hubby says it has too be the last one.The new ferret is a male he is 4 years old and very friendly but i dont think he was litter trained.in the cage he does ok cause he has no choice but too go in the box.I had to get a bigger size litter box cause he is big !!!!I couldn't believe the size difference compared to Nicky who is 3 years old.so far they all get along i let Vito check out the new ferret but no playing yet.His name is Dilly so i thought that seeing he is used to that name i will keep the name. The vet said that it was ok to put Vito back to her normal food.

Hello and welcome to the forum I am new here as well and learning about natural diet. I am so sorry to hear about you little one and i hope she has a speedy recovery. And don't feel bad for not knowing she was a she because the people at critter barn where i live didn't know my Rolo was a girl either. I thought since when they are babies and the vulva sticks out that it was a thingy. So Rolo was her boy name but it is a great unisex name fortunately. Might I make a suggestion to call your Vito Vita. I doubt she will notice the difference. Jessica
