Hi Gina! Its great to have you here. There's alot to get out of this forum, if you are looking to put your ferrets on a natural diet, we can help you do that, and even if that doesnt interest you we can help you provide natural care to your ferret in a variety of ways.
I hope you like it here!
What diet do you currently feed your ferrets, and are you looking to learn more about natural diets for ferrets?

Its great to hear you want to embrace a more natural diet for your babies. IMO diet is one of the cornerstones of good health, and after seeing the numerous improvments in my babies overall health and demeanor on natural, I could NEVER go back to kibble. Okay now you need to decide (if you havent already) what type of natural diet you'd like to feed. Here are your options. Let us know which one fits what you are looking for and we can help you from there. 1.) Whole prey diet: On this diet you feed ONLY whole animals, no kibble, no raw foods, just animals. Mice, rats, chicks, etc make up the diet. You can either feed live (few people do) or frozen-thawed. 2.) Raw diet only: On this diet you feed ONLY raw foods, no whole animals, no kibble. You feed a mix of raw foods such as chicken wings, various organ meats, chunks of boneless meat. Over a WEEK's time you try to feed approx: 75%- Flesh (muscle, fat, skin, tendon, ligament, cartilidge) 15%- Edible bone (bones no larger then rabbit bones 10%- Organ meat (such as liver, gizzards, heart, etc) 3.) Raw/whole prey diet (what I feed): On this diet you feed both raw foods and whole prey foods. 4.) Supplementing kibble with commerical raw or raw: On this diet you feed kibble, but you also feed various commerical raw foods or "home-made" raw foods (like chicken wings from the grocery store). There are different degrees of natural feeding (as you can see) and its up to you how far you go. We can help you no matter how natural you decide to go. Once you have an idea of how you want to feed start posting questions in the nutrition section under "Natural Diet Newbies and General Feeding Questions" and we'll work hard to answer whatever question you may have.

Welcome and glad to have you here! I think Giuli has some of the friendliest and helpful ferrents here:) Ferrets stole my heart about 10 years ago shortly after they became legal here in Michigan and have ruled my life ever since. My six are on a completely raw natural diet for about 2 years - over a year kibble free It has made such a difference in their health! Now the "extra work" is just part of my regular ferret routine. I feel so good hearing them crunching away like nature intended them to do My crew's diet consists of Cornish Game Hen (staple), turkey/chicken hearts/gizzards (each once weekly with some chicken feet), and eggs & Kefir once every 1-2 weeks. I supplement salmon oil a couple times a week and they get flaxseed oil daily. We can't do whole prey because we live in a townhouse and don't have control over poisons or baits neighbors may set for small pests. We've had 2 chipmunks get in our place once. One was fortunate to sneak in during the summer and started hibernating in the basement. I was able to scoop him up and put him outside in the sun. The other....well let's just say after chasing him around the house for days, picking up the sticky traps he tossed aside, he found himself in a snap trap. We tried to get him out! Glad to have you hear and look forward to chatting in the future.
