So we got a great deal .. as in Free from freecycle...wardrobe a lil while ago... With the idea of converting it to be used as our new indoor ferret house for whatever purpose it might be needed for... The inside living demensions are 56" Tall x 37" wide x 19" deep The shelves are at 18" and 16" above that First i lined the inside with those self sticky tiles... Yeah right.. NOT so self sticky lol.. so after doing it twice.. they are glued in as well. Next task was to deal with the mesh on the doors. not much light gets through them as is and i want it well ventilated at the front. So we pull the mesh out and will be replacing it tomarrow with proper ferrety proof mesh. Next we put in some battons to support the shelves Then the shelving goes in covered in some more free lino.. we put this down with proper flooring glue with the hopes that it will stay lol Holes cut for a ladder ( a chopped up CD rack found for .50 at a car boot) and a cat scratcher post for getting from level 2 to 3.. just for something a lil more interesting! I added a breadbox with a hole in it (£1 at carboot) one of those hanging fabric light shades (.20 at a carboot) and a pillowcase (.50 somewhere in town) a litter box and a few bits and bobs to make it homey and i think we're just about ready for Sunday!

It looks pretty good!!! The main two problems that I had with having a cage made out of a wooden cabinet is that there isn't much you can do with hanging hammocks and things.. Also, I had it when I got Lillian and Jillian and Jillian wasn't the best with the litter box, and even though we would clean the messes pee would still seep through into the wood of the cage. But as long as your ferrets are better with the litter boxes it will be fine, and they didn't do it when we had bedding with the litter box (It was in the bottom level). This was the cage -~Ketlin

yeah we know our newest lil charge is only use to newspaper on the floor at the minute.. but with the lino on the shelves it should help.. we have never had trouble getting the ferrets to associate the right spot for the toilet with a lil poo in the right spot and letting them have a sniff ... so we're hoping it shouldn't take too much
Another thing we might try is putting a batton on the front of the toilet shelf too.. so things dont ermm runnn out lol

for the cage, since its hard to hang things in it, you should screw in some eye hooks! then just attach the bedding and such to them, would work for you, i have had a homemade cage when i had my glider thats what i did, and solved that issue. btw can get the eye hooks at like lowes, home depot and such/
