Every once in awhile I give Trouble a Lambeez (or "lung chunk," as I call them: www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+19+75+11902&pcatid=11902), and she absolutely demolishes it. She'll also occasionally gnaw on a dried tendon strip. Has anyone tried something like a pizzle chew, or dried pig snouts? I know I once read (not here) that someone recommended ears that had been soaked until soft as an occasional treat, but the citation was pretty old, and at the time it seemed like a potential blockage hazard to me. Pig ears? Lamb ears, because they're softer? Basically I'm just skimming through the dog treat category looking for new, safe treats. She already likes freeze-dried liver, jerky treats, and things like Pogos.

I'd pass on the ears, I agree: blockage waiting to happen. Freeze dried meat treats Cooked jerkey treats Pogos Fish oil (instead of ferretone) all make great, natural treats. You can also try: A ferret Kong filled with semi-frozen ground beef, chicken, or turkey (its a fun toy and my guys love to work to get the food out!) Frozen Bugs: Crickets, mealworms, waxworms, superoworms, silkworms, and nightcrawlers Try coating them in fish oil, freezeing them, and dusting them with crumbled freeze-dried raw food. Pingfords porridge. Its cooked, but still a yummy, nutritious treat.

Mr. Bean loves Ziwipeak treats. The dog and cat treats are the same size the cat kind just have more protein. I would get a sample to see how they like it first. You can e-mail them and they will send to you. My girls won't eat the treats but they have the Ziwipeak cusine mixed with their EVO and they love it. They are a little weird. With Mr. Bean he wouldn't eat it at first but the third try I gave it to him as a joke and he happily took it and ran away to a dark place and munched down.
Awhile back I bought some freeze dried chicken livers for them and it was a no go. Boy the cat sure loved them though.

I like the kong idea, Guili! I think I'll try that! I'm guessing boiling it afterward to clean it should work

You can also run kongs through your dishwasher! I used to work at a doggy day camp; all toys were thown in the dishwasher twice daily.

Same for rabbit ears, you think? All the comments on those at Hare Today were from cat owners.
Trouble is fairly adventurous in her diet, if you're willing to patiently hand feed every bit to her. But when it comes to chasing down a superworm or a cricket herself, she'll pass. She was a big fan of some lamb jerky treats, but I haven't been able to track down another bag of the same brand.
My cats are happy to take freeze-dried liver, too, but Trouble only accepts it crumbled over food.
As for the kong, she did have the ferret version, and I ended up taking it away... From the punctures she was putting in it, I was afraid she'd have a piece ripped out soon. I'll have to try one of the harder dog ones, maybe.

Seconding a comment above: Kongs are dishwasher safe.
Seconding another comment above: My ferts don't use their own kong. They steal Shadow's full size one, and roll it under the couch. (Or back into the playpen to hide it for later!)

My ferrets started shredding one of the dog kongs - it was pretty big too, so please be careful and keep an eye on it to make sure they're not damaging it.

The red rubber is not formulated to be as strong as the black rubber.
