Does anyone have a video of their ferret(s) eating a whole egg? I want to see how they go about cracking into it so I can figure out a game or something to get Fierra and Ghia to do it. It seems like it would be fun for them to roll it around (Ghia loves pushing stuff around with her nose) and then crunch into it, but they're not understanding that it's food when it's in its whole state.

Thus far I've always had to start the cracking My guys just don't seem to get it. Maybe if you put a small hole in it so they could smell the egg. My guys play with it for awhile but don't really ever get that rough with it. I did feed pigeon eggs at one point and they had a blast. Ghenghis figured out that by jumping up or rearing up and hitting the eggs stiff legged (front legs) that he could break the eggs, but these eggs are very tiny and thin shelled compared to a chicken egg. I'm sure that they could do it but truthfully, my guys are too well fed to go after something that doesn't provide some sort of sport and immediate gratification (lazy little sods ) ciao

Thanks, Heather. So far the only egg success I've had is scrambling it up for them. We plan on hitting an asian market or two today to look for some interesting things to feed the critters maybe I'll grab a carton of quail eggs and give those a try.
Hmmm... just thinking here... maybe a smear of their beloved turkey baby food might cause an accidental crunch. Or if I put one in their snorkeling bowl to fetch out. But then I would end up with egg on the floor.

Try making a small crack in the egg first...some learn faster than others...but that should speed up the process
some of my furries are so fussy...i live on a farm...one minute they like quail...next time they dont...other times duck...chicken etc..
i never give em too many eggs but once in a while is cool (IMO)
