Yesterday I found some gizzards at the store for cheep so I gave them some today. They seemed to like it ok.
Just to recap: I work all weekend and it is hard for me to get on some times. Just a heads up on not always posting on the weekend.

Today was wings. They are still not eating all of the bone but the ends are being chewed. I'm thinking about just doing breakfast & supper on RMB day to see if maybe they will eat more of the bone. I just got paid so I'm going to go buy a bag of thighs.

Ok if I start feeding them twice a day how much do you feed them? Say wings: right now I feed them 2(one for each), 3 times a day. Liver I do about an Ounce for each 3 times a day.
If I buy thighs how many should I feed them?
Thanks Stacy

If I buy thighs how many should I feed them? Ok if they are eating everything that you give them I would do this give them 2 wings and most of the liver in the morning and give them 4 wings and the rest of the liver at night. I find that mine eat more at night then durring the day. If yours eat more durring the day then at night then give them more food in the morning. as for the thighs for my 8 right now I have to feed 2 fist sized thighs at each feeding. I cut these up into chunks for them. its not hard to change over to feeding twice a day, just watch them and make sure that the food that you are giving them lasts to at least 3-5 hours before you feed them again. Mine usally run out of food 3-4 hours before thier dinner. Hope that helps

Today we did thighs. I gave them half of one this morning (the thighs were HUGE!). I am going to give them the other half after I get done here. They seem to be doing ok on it.

I gave them an entire thigh last night and this morning it was empty. This morning hubby gave them the NV/meatball mix. They ate about half of it, but they got lost in the house most of the day so they didn't have time to eat it. I'm going to give them quite a bit tonight.

They eat chicken wing-lets, NV lamb and venison, Liver, gizzards, thighs, and a meat ball mix that has like 4 different meats in it, and an egg.
Monday: wings Tuesday: liver/gizzards & egg Wednesday: wings Thursday: NV Friday: thighs Saturday: wings Sunday: NV & meatball mix

They are still NOT eating the bone. They chew on the ends some but they don't eat it all. I don't know what I can do to get them to eat it. I tried steak for Zuko once and he wouldn't eat it. It is also kinda pricey so I tend not to buy it (not even for my hubby). We mostly eat pork and chicken.

Im going to check with my other mentors about what to do with the bone
Have you tried giving them maybe some ox tails (they dont really eat the bone but do like the meat), beef cubes, i can find lamb in my stores so i usally buy a small package of lamb thats only a few $$ and thats a meal. I have never given mine steak.

Heather one of the other mentors had this to say:
I leave bone available to my guys 24/7... if they don't have meat they have a tendency to gnaw on the bones. Just a thought, my guys hate wings, have you tried quail or rabbit? All of my brats will eat all the bones on these...chicken wings and feet just don't hold much appeal. All together different story when offered whole rabbit and quail. Chicken necks are also well eaten (fantastic little toothbrushes ). Legs and thighs only get the little knuckle ends eaten but hey, I will take that My guys also get ground rmbs to make sure their calcium is also from older animals. I think your guys are doing awesome....they will get there. I've got ferrets who wouldn't eat bone...come to think of it Loki still won't eat much meat on bone but he will eat whole rats (so I will take that ). It's a matter of finding what will make these little guys turn the corner. They're eating the tips, leave them with them (I can leave my guys with wings for a week and they won't touch them. Only once the thing has turned into jerky will they consider eating it. )

I do leave the bone in there most of the day. I can't find a butcher some what close to me so I have a hard time finding necks, tails, rabbit, quail and other off the wall things. I was going to get some lamb but for a small amount they wanted like $15 and I just can't do that for one or two meals. I can spend $15 and get 10lb bag of wings that will last a hell of a long time.
Leaving the bone in there 24/7 scares me. I am so worried about salmonella and what ever else.
My hubby's aunt just killed 50 chickens but I'm not sure what they did will all the "extras". When my in-laws told me I about cried lol! They have another 50 that they are going to do in a month or so, so I am going to give her a call. I don't have the freezer space but I will find a way.
