I posted this at Ferretopia Oct 26, 2008, so dates might be wrong. But I wanted to share it here to

Even before I got Bandit and Drake...When I was looking for "the" ferret cage, I was told that I should get the Ferret Nation. Looking at pictures, I thought there was only one thing wrong with it, it wasn't long enough. I was told that I could get an add on to make it three floors, but I'm pretty short and I didn't want to go on a stool everytime I needed up their.

Bandit and Drake came with their ferret nation, and though I loved it, it wasn't "perfect".

So I got a thought, and I wanted to get another ferret nation 142, and attach it to the side. I went online to see if it could be done. Saw that a few people did it, and Knew that I really wanted to. When I got Laura and Gloria, I knew I needed more "cages" incase I needed to seperate them all at the same time.

Finally after over a year, I said "I'm gonna do it!" When online, and posted an add about wanting a ferret nation 142 for my 4 ferrets. Forgot I posted it, figuring no one was going to email me back. A week later I got the email! Got it for $125, only thing wrong with it was that one of the wheels were broken. That was fine as I was planning on taking two off anyways.

He had it for his Chinchila for 3 months. And if I learned anything from this, is to NEVER get a chinchila! The bath dust gets EVERYWHERE blah! Took me about an hour to completely clean it...He also chewed some of the plastic on the top ferret shelf, just a bit.

Took me 5 hours and 30 mintues to get that cage to how I wanted it (with cleaning time), and now I LOVE it

I'm so happy. I did it on my own, so its probably why it took longer, but I love it

Now I won't feel bad when I have to lock up the kids for the "day". They free roam my room, so they almost never get locked up.

I feel like I have no beding for them anymore! Need to get some more...Or maybe I should finally learn how to make it!

I just love the wider space for them to play. I took one of the middle doors off completely and put some pens around it so they can stay in or have a small play yard. It looks great!!

That FN cage arrangment looks so AWESOME, but it would look so goofy in my tiny little apartment . SO jealous.

I LOVE that arrangement! I never even thought of putting two of them side by side like that. Unfortunately, I don't have the space to do that (nor do I have the extra cash to purchase another cage), but I'm bookmarking this so I don't forget about it. Hopefully I'll be able to do this for my fuzzies in the near future. I agree with you about getting the add-on unit - I've considered purchasing it in the past, but it just seems like it would be too high and make things harder when it comes to cleaning. I like the wider space MUCH better! Congrats, it looks awesome!

I had the three level FN, & recently bought a used 1 level from the rescue that I adopted my two new boys & the fosters from. For Christmas, I ordered another level, so I will have a three leve & a two level. I thought about adjoinging them, but it is nice having them separate for when I have ferrets that need to be separated. I will eventually get another add on level to make two 3-level cages. They are spoiled, huh? =)

Oh man what spoiled babies! I'll be enduring this process here soon as well! I bet you they're extremely grateful and happy!

I completely understand about how you feel bad/guilty if you can't let them out for a day. It's heartbreaking, mine like to stick their noses out and lay there, patiently waiting.
