I have a glass spritz bottle with a plastic nozzle that I used to keep diluted tea tree oil in to use as a face toner. Now I'd like to repurpose the bottle so that I can spritz the ferrets' bedding and such with different scents like vanilla (what other things would be safe?), but though I've washed and soaked and rinsed and washed and soaked and rinsed the bottle several times... I can still smell tea tree oil. Is it a lost cause? What can I do to make sure it's totally clean? Boil it?

If you swish some pure white vinegar in it it should remove the oil..
As for things you can use on the bedding, peppermint oil is safe. I've used Dr.Bronners peppermint soap on the fuzzies without issue.. You could get some real flower exracts to spray, extracts aren't as harsh as oil.

I did soak it in white vinegar overnight. I'll give that one more go.
Would a small amount of tea tree oil residue be irritating to them do you think? I mean, it's not nearly as strong as it was, but the smell is definitely still there.

OHHHHHHHHH. I didn't realize you said it was glass, in that case you can boil it or leave it as is. Tea tree is pretty gentle stuff.

I'd be really careful, because while tea tree is gentle on the skin, it is also toxic if ingested. Personally, I just use an alcohol free dog/cat cologne on all my animal's bedding. Its gentle on the skin and the one I use smells AMAZING.
