So the fuzzies finally have their shots, since I didn't want to take them outside without a distemper/rabies. I really want to walk them, but it is now FREEZING outside. I'm not sure of the exact temperature, but we had a couple flakes of snow this afternoon. Would it be too cold for them to go outside leashed up to play in the leaves?

My boys love the snow and when I got them I was still in Michigan, temporarely I'm not but there in Michigan it gets pretty darn cold. I know a lot of ferret owners that take their furballs out in the winter months, I don't really see a problem with it as long as you don't plan to be outside for hours at a time, the most I kept my boys out was a half hour.

They'll probalby let you know if they are too cold. I've taken the boys out before in the winter and they have started shivering after I while. If you like, you can always get a sweater for them, they may not like it, but if its cold enough outside they might just wear it.

Wow, where would I even acquire a ferret sweater? I didn't know they made such things, haha. Vivi might wear one, he's pretty chill, but I think Freya would go bonkers trying to get it off!

If they wear a leash ok and realize the leash has to do with going outside, they might be ok with it. Thats what I think anyway. I only put the leash on to take them outside, no other purpose then outside playtime.
I'm looking into finding a sweater for Kiwi. She is so small, I think she needs one or will freeze. I was thinking maybe a baby onesie for them. Those are super cheap, I mean ferret and puppy clothes are like $10+ and thats just too expensive. I would rather buy their food or a new treat for them.

Get a sock, cut two holes in for the front feet and a small hole in the top, slip over the ferrets and harness put they're feet through the holes, now put the ring to fasten the leash to through the whole at the top, attach leash and your done.

Well, it was a bit warmer today, so the fuzzies had their first outing! They had an absolute blast. I'll post some pics in the gallery section as soon as they finish uploading!

Anything above 32 degrees they can handle. But no more than 15-20 mins. A sweater or hoodie would help for sure.

Be careful of their little paws, too. The ground gets COLD in the winter! I don't take my ferrets out because they slip out of their harnesses too easily, and they're the type to take off, but I know my parents' dog will start lifting her feet after 10 min or more when she doesn't have booties on (around 0-10 F ) and she's just a little doggie.

ferrets handle the cold much much better than people give them credit for...
they have Lovely fur coats to keep them warm! as stated above.. they will let ya know if they dont want to be down on the ground by climbing up your leg...
take them out and have FUN!
