Today I made a mix of 3/4 ground turkey, 1/4 kibble mush, and mixed it all up. Pilot and Tank ate some while I was watching, but I didn't get to see Ranger eating because I had to leave for work --- but my guess is that he won't have a problem since he hasn't up to this point Thanks for the help so far Maria and Giuli, you guys really did help make this happen!

Hopefully they won't have any trouble getting onto organs and whole foods.
And your very welcome!

See, I told ya You just have to find the right approach for your babies and you can TOTALLY make the switch happen! Oftentimes when you try to make the switch and fail its not because your ferrets will never eat raw its just because you didnt use the right approach for your furbabies. Im happy we were able to find a method that worked for you! Keep up the great work, they'll be on all raw in no time!

Today I gave Diesel some liver and chicken breast and Pilot went right up and started chowing on the chicken!!!! So I cut some up into small cubes and put it in a bowl for her. She loved it!
Ranger licked at it but didn't seem to understand the concept of chewing, and Tank hasn't woken up yet. Exciting!!!

He licked at it confused-like, the way Ranger did. They still aren't keen on eating the cubed meat --- I think the texture confuses the poor boys.
Pilot stole a drumstick from Diesel though! So surprisingly, she is the first one to switch out of the three!!

Yeah, it will take a while to get onto chunks. It took Weezer a long time, I just started by cutting the meat into pea sized pieces then after a while on that I slowly increased the size.
I'm glad Pilot is taking to is so well :-)

So how are things going?

No progress really, they'll eat ground but the texture of the chunks is too much for them. I've been mixing ground with tiny cubes and they'll stash the cubes but not eat them...

It might take a while for them to take chunks, it took a while for Weezer to. It was a long process for him.

Sorry for the lack of updates --- I had to help Sailor to the Bridge and since then things have been a little crazy. Everyone is eating the ground mixed with tiny cut up bits of meat, but no progress from there. Ranger especially has been really bummed about Sailor and so I haven't been pushing them until they perk up a bit.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about Sailor I just lost Sams last month so I know how much putting a furkid to sleep SUCKS. I hope that you and your furry family are able to feel better soon and look back at memories of Sailor and smile. I think its a good idea to keep at this stage of the transition, for now (as you are already doing) that is def. a smart idea. It will help to minimize stress. Once you feel your group has had time to settle after the loss of Sailor, you can progress from there. Be sure to moniter everyone's weights now. Its not uncommon for a ferret to grieve and lose weight (De did that when Sams died, but 1tbsp of organic, carageenan-free heavy whipping cream in her raw soup 1x per day really helped to keep her weight steady). I would also syringe feed De 1tbsp of warm heavy whipping cream (if I didnt put it in her soup) she really seemed to like that. I also would groom her face with a warm, damp washcloth. I think both those things helped keep her from sinking into a deep depression. She still is not the same since Sams passed, but atleast she didnt pass on too out of grief. Keep us updated, Erinn (when you find the time). I want to be sure you and your babies are doing alright. You'll be in my thoughts.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Just keep in mind she lived a nice long life and got to eat yummy food.
She was so cute, her face was shaped a lot like Weezers.

Thank you both, they are all still eating well enough (Ranger has needed some force-feeding but he'll eat on his own if I just remind him.)
I will let you know how things go once they are all back on track. Thanks for the concern and the kind words, we're all missing that Sailor girl an awful lot.
