I've noticed in several posts that some of you feed Nature's Valley raw medallions to your ferrets. My papillon eats NV both the frozen and freeze dried. I know they can't have the freeze dried. I was wondering how many of you use the NV. Mine are on a kibble mixture now of Evo Cat and Wellness Core. How would I add the NV? Should it be a once a day or twice daily thing? I'm not quite ready to go to meat and bones (there's no way I can do whole prey), so I figured the NV would be a good subsitute for now. Also what is the best way to introduce the new food? Thanks so much!

I feed NV and it works really great for me. Usually they eat the NV about 3 times a day, depending on how hungry they are. I also feed Ziwipeak and Stella & Chewys freeze dried steaks.
You could start out adding the NV as a once a day meal. I would buy one flavor, chicken might be easiest, and use a medallion to make a soupie out of. Defrost it, perhaps soak some kibble in hot water and blend until smooth, add water until whatever consistency you want and feed that way. Perhaps you will need to add your favorite liquid supplement on top for them to try it. It may be easiest to make it very soupie as opposed to sticky.
I usually mix a few medallions at once, occasionally adding baby food, KMR, another raw meat (rabbit, turkey, or beef) to the mix. I like to change it up every now and then. It might work well for you to add baby food to your mix as well in the beginning if they like that.
You may also need to stick a little in their mouth for them to taste it. Mine love it.
Hope I helped, if you need more help, I'll try to give more!

I occassionally use NV raw. I have tried chicken, beef, and lamb, and my Ernie likes then in that order I defrost them the meal before, take them out, smash them with a fork and add a little water... simple! When I was feeding them regularly, I would feed in the morning and at night. My 5 year old, low energy male would eat about 2.5 medallions through the day total. To switch, I like pear2apples idea.
