Just wanted to remind everyone that winter is approaching so don't be suprised if your ferret suddenly has a bigger appetite. Its time to build up that winter fat, so don't worry about the increase in food consumption, its natural, and your ferret knows how much he needs to eat, so be sure to feed as much as he wants. He will stop eating when he's reached the point of being full. Chow down! The winter fattening has begun! (While visions of mice , ducks , pork , lamb , and chicken danced in their heads Happy Fall Everyone!

Yep, I've noticed it! This is the first time that I've had ferrets while entering the colder months (I got Weezer in Late October and Lil in November). For a couple days we hadn't weighed their food but they've eaten maybe twice as much as they had been.. I love my piggly wigglies :-))

Kachina is so FAT that I have to cut her off...she has litlerally eaten to the point if vomiting - I know that this is very rare, but I think she's neurotic about food - given the opportunity, she'll eat more than my boys. She really cute and roly-poly, but she's a bit overweight in spite of her energy level! -jennifer

Do ferrets tend to sleep more as winter approaches? Frank seems to be more sleepy lately, but he is also just turned 6 months so could it just be that he's growing out of his "kitten" stage and calming down a bit? He's definitely not sick
