New Cage Thread

Hey everyone,

I am going to use this thread as a blog post type thing to keep you guys updated on my cage plan. After having a tug a war between a homemade cage, and a FN, I finaly found more pro's onto a home-made cage.

We are going to take my amoire and turn it into a ferret hotel with ether three full shelfs, or two tall shelfs, and one small shelf thats like a sleeper. I also need to think of colors since the wood orignaly is dark. I think I want to paint the inside white, and put flower stencils all over.

Does anyone have any ideas for the shelves? The cage itself will be rather deep.



I am going to use the drews on the bottom as storage. ^.^

I would use plywood or something as flooring (cover it with linoleum). you can easily screw in 4 small pieces of wood in the corners for shelves to go on. its worked well for me and allows the floors to slide out (making moving way easier).

that acualy just gave me an idea. The walls itself have holes for thoes peg peices. I could get dad to make me some wood pegs that I can take out and so i can switch the cage around when ever i want to.

Also for a ramp, I could braid a large fleece knot, or rope and they could use that to climp to each level. Or just as a fun way to get to each level. :ponders some more: This is so exiting!

Because hardly anybody has a closet here in the UK... we have TONS of Wardrobes for next to nothing around...

i realy should of listened to you guys. hehe. The cage i made is cool, but i just feel it'll be a burden in time. Yes i know! Smack me. XD I'm going to use my chrismas money for a cage.
