So I just started one of my stubborn ferrets on Nature's variety raw chicken medallions. I have a few questions about feeding NV and I was hoping those who feed NV could answer a few questions! How many medallions (or ounces) do you feed each day? What are your ferrets ages and energy levels? Ernie is about 5 years old, fairly healthy, a little underweight, and low energy. How many 1 ounce medallions do you think he will eat per day? How do you feed NV? Obviously thawed, but do you mash it up, water it down, feed as is? How many hours do you leave NV out before tossing? What meat type do you feed? Do you rotate to different styles? How often? Thanks for your help guys!

Sorry! I didn't see this!
This is how I feed, kinda different from what it says on the package about keeping it frozen before feeding, but this works perfect for me.
I have 2 ferrets, Apple is 1.5 yrs, Kiwi is 3-4yrs. But pretty hyper.
I have a Magic Bullet, so this is easy for me to make every few days. I take about 3 medallions of rabbit and 2 medallions of lamb, water, occasionally baby food/KMR, and mix it all up in the blender cup. This lasts me about 2 days. I feed once at 7am, again around 4pm if the food is gone, and then again about 10pm. I guesstimate I am feeing 1.5 medallions at a time. But since I almost always add something to the NV, they are getting a mix.
The NV is almost always gone within 6 hours, if its past that and its still there, it is still good and I just mix in with the new NV. If its been 24 hours, throw it away, or even at 18 hours it might be too dry for them to eat.
Feeding as just the medallions or mashed up might be too sticky, try adding water if you don't want to completely blend like I do. I still have chunks, but they love it blended up. I also add raw meat sometimes, I have some leftover from when I was trying to go to raw again, so I just add it in there.
I also feed Evo Red Meat bites, Ziwipeak Cat, and Stella & Chewy's freeze dried steaks (dog) during the day.
I only feed rabbit and lamb now, but I am almost done with my lamb and when I go back I am buying all 4: venison, beef, lamb, and rabbit. I do not feed chicken, Apple is IBD to chicken, but there is nothing wrong with it.
Feeding NV you may need to supplement with eggshells for them to get enough calcium. Mine definitely need the extra calcium and I supplement them with crushed eggshells.

Just a quick note about the NV frozen. It's only 95% meat, organs, and bone and the other 5% is fruits and veggies...which I don't know how much of a difference it really makes because I feed this too. But there's another brand that I really like..it's primal pet foods...and it's 100% meat, bone, and organ...just thought I'd throw it out there....

Thanks both of you! One of my grocery stores sales PRIMAL, I will check it out. What kind do you feed? I think they only had dog.

One of my ferrets is allergic to chicken so I usually use the turkey, don't think it matters if it's for the cats or dogs but I'll probably be switching to the NV because they have more variety and you get more in the bag. I'd use any flavor that your ferrets will eat...one of mine hates turkey..one hates rabbit...so whatever you can get them to eat I'd say is better than nothing!

I think the Raw Frozen product is for cats and dogs. There is a picture of a cat and dog on the package, so I assume its for both.
They are all good. Not sure the difference between Organic and the regular Chicken, I would go by price though. Also the rabbit contains pork as well, nothing wrong with that, completely safe to feed your animals.
