YAY! I love them... you can make 'em easy, too... All you have to do is sew some pant legs, cut holes and smooth out the edges so no nails get caught... and hooray! You've got an enrichment pad! youtube.com/watch?v=bLz8lXfaxq4My kiddos like red in theirs', I dunno it stands out to them. ;D

OMG! The woman in that video, is Fran Freedman! I got Hendrix, Willow, and Weezie from MorningStarr Animal Sanctuary when I was living in AZ (I unfourtunately no longer have them, I had to rehome them due to some unfourtunate circumstances). Her and her hubby, are great people I miss them alot. But back on track, I want to get an enrichment mat for my guys. Anyone know where to buy them?

Sweet, John, you rock! Oh, one other question, do ferrets ACTUALLY use them?

Sweet, John, you rock! Oh, one other question, do ferrets ACTUALLY use them? Mine do, but if you left it out all day, every day, they may get bored. I put mine down randomly

And play mats make a great place to stash some of those freeze-dried treats! Whethe you stash them in the play mat - or another fuzzy does it for you, the treats just kind of disappear!!!

Hey Jessica, I DO know why tyour ferrets like red. The only colors ferrets can see are some reds and some blues. Red is the color they see best of all.
So, for enrichment, the best "colors" for ferrts would be as follows:
High contast Values (black and white adjacent to each other) Reds Blues
they also love small mouse-sized items that move at the speed of a mouse!!!
I'm trying to finish up a special sleep sack for a disabled shelter fuzzy who lost a hind leg from abuse. He was brought to the shelter with a broken leg that could not be saved. The bottom of the sack will ultra padded. it will be longer than the top to provide an uncovered "front prorch" in case its too warm. The bottom pad will be made from will be made of a black and white "cow hide " print (very soft microfiber fleece). the top of th sack, which coversonly half od the pad will be red fleece. There will be some red fleece treat pockets (for caching and foraging) at the foot of the "porch". I'm making him 4 of these, and I sent him 50.00. once I get his care package sent, I will be looking into a ferret "wheel chair" (more like a tummy sled). I hope he likes the stuff I'll be sending him. ;D

But back on track, I want to get an enrichment mat for my guys. Anyone know where to buy them? I can MAKE you one. I make all my ferrets bedding and toys. Got a sewing machine and learned how to knit some really cool toys. I'll have to take and post some pics. I have to get another memory card for my camera - the one I have only holds 10 pics

hmmm that sounds cool. How much would you charge for the pad plus shipping and what kind of payments would you accept?

I'm really interested in either making my own pad or buying one from someone. I can't afford to pay $50 for one though because I have no idea how much interest Apple, or soon to have Kiwi would really like it. So I'm really looking for something more affordable! Is anyone making any? Post pics and let us know costs please!
