Today I had to go to the pet store to pick up a rat for Jazz (the snake) and on the spur of the moment decided to grab a mouse and see if Bandit would give it a try ( I had to laugh at the look on the cashier's face when she asked if the rat was for the big snake and the mouse for the little snake and I said no...the mouse was for the ferret).
Now in my house we joke that Bandit will be the easiest to switch cause she really likes the taste of flesh (she is my biter). In reality I was hoping that since she was the one who went after the chicken the quickest that she would be at least curious.
So, after defrosting the mouse I tied a string to its tail and had Brent go get Bandit. Once again we were in the bathtub. Brent puts her down in the tub and she starts exploring of course. Meanwhile I am feeling like a dork cause she is completely ignoring the mouse I am pulling around by a string.
So I took it and gave her a light bonk on the nose...just enough to get her attention focused on the mouse instead of the drain. She kind of followed after it for a second or two and then grabbed it. At first I don't think she quite knew what to do with it. But it sure did not take her long to figure it out.
Once she had it in her teeth and seemed to be giving it a try I pulled the string off and let her have at it. She ate the head, feet and tail (very enthusiastically I might add). I figured that is a good start.
And here are the pictures (they did not turn out that great tho cause we had to use the old camera):
