I breed rats as feeders, mostly for my snakes. (I have 12 snakes). I am wanting to expand my colony, and just finished making excel records for all the breeding rats. I hope to breed the rats for use as feeders for my fuzzbutts as well. My colony used to be bigger than this but due to some illnesses, we lost a few.
Breeding Females: 4 Doe - Beige Self Kasper - Albino Thing 2 - Black Hooded Chance - Agouti Hooded
Holdback Females: 3 Fawn - Bershire (close to breeding age/size) Ray - Beige Self (Doe's Daughter) (And a little albino that Doe is fostering. Fiance named her and I can't remember what it is.)
Breeding Males: 3 Roo - Berkshire Dumbo Hampton - Bershire Solja Boy - Black Hooded (Kasper's Son)
No Holdback Males
That is my colony right now. Chance is sitting on a litter right now and Thing 2 was placed with a male today. I want to get a few more adult breeders, so if anyone in Virginia breeds rats, let me know.

I also plan on breeding my own feeder mice. Once we have a house I plan on breeding all my feeder animals like rats, mice, rabbits(?), button quail, and maybe even chicken. But the house is the main ingredient in this and we don't have that yet.
I was wondering what other kinds of whole prey can/will they eat? Any other types of rodent like hamster or gerbil. What about reptiles like anoles or frogs?

You can feed ferrets hamsters and gerbils (my Wednesday used to LOVE gerbils). Anoles and house geckos make a good addition to the ferret diet. In the wild, european polecats (the closest wild relative of the ferret) will feed on frogs and lizards, seasonally (in the late spring/summer).

Any specific kind of frog they tend to be partial to? Any kind of frog I can get at a petstore? I want to give them a variety in their diet.
