I decided to take the plunge. I bought four frozen pinkies, cut them in half, defrosted them, and used ferretone when ferts had no interest. Lucrezia loved them. I even tried putting a small piece in the other ferts mouths, and nothing. They, so far, have no interest whatsoever. Lucy, on the other hand, ate 3 1/2 of them. So, maybe I'll start getting the odd one for her, and hopefully the others will pick up an interest!

Excellent! Pinkies are a yummy, healthy treat for ferrets. I would encourage you to also work them up to bigger whole prey. If you are uncomfortable with adult mice, at the very least, feed fuzzies occasionally. Ferrets really benefit from the fur on the mice. It helps to "clean out" their intestinal tract and can also help to prevent blockages I'm happy to hear that Lucrezia and Lucy liked the prey Don't worry about the others, they'll come around. You feed ground, commercial raw too, right? Try slipping the chopped up pinkies into the commercial ground raw

Oh, sorry. Sometimes I call Lucrezia "Lucy" for short. She's the one who ate all the pinkies! And once I get some of the others turned onto them, I'm going to step it up a bit. For now, I'm looking at trying this once a week or so.

Great idea! Thanks. Has anyone made a soupie of almost entirely young prey? I don't think my blender would take the strain of heavier bone, and I still need it

Yes, I do every day for De. I will warn you, its pretty disgusting, but its worth it (IMO). Just be sure to chop the prey up VERY small, add water sufficient for blending, you can even add in a little bit of chunked raw meat to make it blend smoother. It takes some experimentation, but you'll get the hang of it. Just whatever you do, don't smell the mouse puree!

That would be so digusting and I thought tripe smelled bad am I ever glad that my guys believe in eating the rats and mice whole and intact...well they are when I give them to them I couldn't imagine throwing them in the food processor....anymore than I could consider throwing the baby bunnies in the blender.. when my puppy wouldn't eat them whole. Thanks! I'll give it a shot this week end. I'll let you know if A: they eat it, and B: if my stomach can stand it
