Im gonna do a search in a second so I appologize if I find the answer after.. hehe My bff works at a slaughter house/plant whatever they are called nowadays. They only do pigs. So I can get pork at a really good price and in bulk. I know pork is ok, and Im not worried about trichinosis etc so much, But im just wondering how much pork is too much? Should it be a few times a week thing? Can it be a main staple? Are there any certain cuts that I should watch out for, or that you guys recommend? And if anyone else feeds raw to cats or dogs that input would be nice as well.... Just need to find a chicken supplier and beef and Im set LOL.. One can dream

Ideally when feeding a raw diet you should aim for the following each week: 4 days a week (atleast) of raw meaty bones such as chicken/duck/quail wings, legs, and thighs. Or bone in rabbit parts. 2 days a week of boneless meat (this is where you'd feed pork, beef, lamb, anything with an unedible bone----IE a bone bigger then a chicken/rabbit/duck bone 1 day a week of organ meat (kidney, pancreas, liver, heart, gizzards, etc) Liver is the most important if you cant fed the other organs ATLEAST feed liver So that would mean that you could feed the pork about 2x a week (on the boneless days). You want as much variety as possible, so I'd recommend feeding pork on one boneless day, and another meat on the other boneless day. Feed any cut you like. The nutrient content varys depending on the part, so the more parts you feed, the more diversity you get and the lower the risk of nutritional deficiency. Same applies to beef, chicken, etc. Vary the part you feed Also, aim to vary the age. Try to feed chicken/cornish game hen, pork/piglet, turkey/poult, beef/veal. Animals vary in nutrients as they age. So providing various ages helps to increase nutrient diversity as well. You should aim to feed ATLEAST 3 meats from different animals each week. If you can feed more then that, great! If you can only feed 3 meats then its especially important to vary the cut AND age of animal fed. Diversity, diversity, diversity. Its your best friend I raw feed my cat and some of our mentors raw feed their dogs as well (Jenn, Heather, Aleronferrets to name a few) so if you need assistance with that, just let us know.

Yes, diversity is very important. The more variety the better. The key is to stick to the ratios listed above 4days RMB, 2 days boneless, 1 day organ and then on top of that provide as much variety as you can. Its the exact same for dogs and cats
